New to Grow
If you're feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, chronic stress, relationship challenges, or a major life transition, you're not alone. I'm Yulanda Blackston, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Maryland, and I help adults who are ready to move beyond surviving and begin healing. Whether you're struggling with self-esteem, burnout, grief, people-pleasing, or the emotional weight of balancing work, family, and everyday life, therapy can provide the support and tools you need to create meaningful change.
Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and begin understanding what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk about your current concerns, your goals, and what you hope to gain from counseling. You can expect a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can share at your own pace. Together, we’ll begin identifying practical steps and creating a personalized approach to help you feel more confident, supported, and hopeful moving forward.
Clients often tell me they appreciate my calm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental approach. I strive to create a culturally responsive and affirming space where you can speak openly without fear of criticism or having to explain your lived experiences. I believe healing happens when people feel emotionally safe, genuinely accepted, and equipped with practical tools they can use in everyday life.

I've been using CBT in my practice for the past three years. It's helped dozens of clients challenge recurring thoughts and manage their anxiety. We'll use CBT to examine how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors interact. We'll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns and help you lead a more relaxed, less stressful life.
