First session

Cognitive behavioral therapy is used to guide clients in identifying patterns of thinking that may be contributing to distress. I help clients explore other possible responses to use when approaching challenges moving forward. Clients gain tools to identify inaccurate and negative thinking patterns. Solution focused therapy is used for goal setting and problem solving. This positive approach helps clients focus on the future by identifying what is currently working. "Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tiptoe if you must, but take that step." -quote by Naeem Calloway

Strengths

I have a diverse background giving me valuable experience working with different ages and challenges. My master's in professional counseling with emphasis on childhood and adolescence disorders and more than 30 years working with children and adolescents. My focus is on the importance of helping clients maintain a sense of purpose as they navigate through the changes and challenges experienced with health issues and aging.
