Hello! My name is Alyssa Taft. I am a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner based in Georgia. I received my Masters in Family Nurse Practitioner from South University in 2018 and have been practicing Internal Medicine since. I graduated with my Post-Masters PMHNP in 2024 from Valdosta State University. I decided to further my education because of my love for psychiatry. I have had the pleasure to treat adults and children of all ages for the past 6+ years with a variety of psychiatric disorders. While working with internal medicine, I have had the ability to understand the mind along with the physical body and how they correlate. My mission is to help individuals have quality of life and be the best versions of themselves. I want to make my clients feel seen and heard.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session will last around one hour. We will start with brief introductions and then dive further into past history and current issues at hand. We will discuss symptoms you are experiencing while medications you have tried in the past. This will help to decide a treatment plan that we will work on each visit after. We will discuss medication options and further treatment options.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Over the past 6 years working as a provider, I have learned that it is most important to listen. As a provider, I will ensure that I use evidence-based research to develop a tailored plan to each individual.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with those individuals who are actively seeking and wanting growth. I want those individuals to be involved in the process. My goal is to formulate treatment plans with the individual while discussing multiple options and letting the patient decide their outcome. As a provider, I do not want to just prescribe a pill. I want to develop a relationship with the individual for them to feel safe and willing to decide a treatment plan together. I primarily do medication management. However, I do help guiding individuals in utilizing resources to help with anxiety, depression, etc such as grounding and mindfulness techniques. I DO NOT WRITE CONTROLS SUCH AS BENZOS OR STIMULANTS! (ATIVAN, XANAX, KLONOPIN, ADDERALL, VYVANSE, METHYLPHENIDATE, ETC) PLEASE BE AWARE THAT I CHARGE FOR NO-SHOW'S.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a very beneficial asset to patient care. I have utilized CBT to my patient care by assessing patient's needs, building a relationship, identifying the cognitive distortions and then helping to reframe thoughts and behaviors.
