Brooke Sander
With over 20 years of mental health experience, including 16 years as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I bring a compassionate, relational approach to therapy. I believe change begins with emotional safety, acceptance, compassion, and a strong therapeutic alliance. My goal is to create a foundation of trust where clients feel understood, empowered, and supported as they move toward meaningful healing and lasting change. Outside of the therapy room: I live a very active, full life. I cherish homeschooling my children, staying involved in my church community, and finding quiet moments to garden or read. As someone who understands the hustle of a busy schedule, I intentionally head outdoors to camp, hike, and reconnect with nature. I strive to bring that same dedication to peace, balance, and intentional living into our therapeutic work together.
First session
In our first session, we'll take time to get to know one another, talk about what brings you to therapy, and begin to identify what you hope to gain from our time together. I want you to leave with a sense that we have a shared understanding of your needs and goals and that you have a clearer sense of how I can support you. Just as importantly, the first session is an opportunity for you to get a feel for our connection and decide whether I'm the right fit for you. My hope is that you leave feeling comfortable and hopeful about the possibility of working together. And if ultimately you feel that another therapist or approach would be a better fit for you, there are absolutely no hard feelings -- what matters most to me is that you find the support that feels right for you.
Strengths
My approach is warm, supportive and collaborative, with a strong emphasis on creating a space where clients feel genuinely heard, respected and understood. I believe clients are the experts on their own lives, and my role is not to tell them what to do, but to help them explore, navigate, and make sense of their experiences. I take a client-led approach, meeting each person where they are and offering guidance, perspective and support at a pace that feels comfortable and meaningful to them.
Ideal clients
I especially enjoy working with women who are thoughtful, introspective and curious about themselves and their experiences. My ideal client is someone who wants to look beneath the surface and make connections between their past and present, and better understand the patterns, relationships, and experiences that have shaped them. I value working with people who are open to self-reflection and gaining insight to help them move into lasting change.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I may incorporate CBT to help you recognize connections between your thoughts, emotions and behaviors and to develop practical strategies for creating more helpful patterns.
Faith based therapy
When desired, I can integrate your Christian faith into our work through prayer, reflection on scripture, spiritual exploration, and consideration of how your faith and relationship with God can provide meaning, guidance, hope, and support as you navigate what you're experiencing.
Psychodynamic
In psychodynamic work, I'll help you explore the deeper emotions, relationship patterns, and past experiences that may be influencing how you think, feel, and respond in the present, with the goal of developing greater insight.
Somatic
I may incorporate mind-body and nervous system based strategies or education to help you recognize how stress and emotions show up physically and learn practical ways to support regulation, grounding, and a greater sense of calm and safety.
Supportive
I'll provide safe, validating, and nonjudgmental space for you to process what you're experiencing, while offering encouragement, perspective and support as you navigate challenges in your life.
