(he/him)
Hello, I want to commend you for taking the courageous step of joining therapy, as it shows your commitment to self-discovery and growth. My name is Jeremiah Buenrostro, and I am a CA Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have been practicing for 5 years. I work with adults of all ages who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, a challenging relationship, drug or alcohol misuse, relationships, or different life transitions.
What you can expect in our first session together is a discussion of what brought you to therapy, defining clear expectations of therapy, and me asking you questions and gathering information to get to know you. This session is an opportunity to build an alliance in hopes that we can make a connection on a human level. I believe the therapeutic alliance is the most important factor in helping my clients achieve their goals and see treatment progress.
My greatest strength is my communication style, which encompasses calmness, flexibility, tuning into non-verbal cues, body language, and curiosity, which helps me understand your unique needs. I strive to create a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings. I view the therapeutic relationship as a collaborative partnership and empower my clients to take an active role in their healing process.
I have found that my experience, background, and style are a good fit for adults of all ages who may be dealing with challenges with anxiety, depression, stress, substance misuse, trauma, grief and loss, and self-esteem issues. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Problem-Solving Therapy, as both modalities help create structure and promote a collaborative approach to help my clients address their problems and achieve desired goals.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
My approach with CBT integrates elements of Problem-Solving Therapy to address clients’ challenges directly and efficiently. I focus on helping clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors, guiding them to develop healthier coping mechanisms. By enhancing critical thinking skills, I empower clients to build upon their strengths and uncover personalized solutions to improve their well-being.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I use Solution-Focused Brief Treatment to support clients in setting and achieving short-term goals by focusing on their existing strengths and resources. My experience with this method has shown me how effective it is in promoting quick progress, as clients are encouraged to visualize their desired outcomes and take actionable steps toward them. This approach is particularly useful for clients seeking immediate, solution-oriented results.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
My approach to therapy integrates client-centered and holistic principles to address the mind, body, and spirit helping you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and promote your overall well-being. In my practice, I incorporate Mindfulness-Based Therapy to help clients develop present-moment awareness and reduce stress. I guide clients through mindfulness exercises that cultivate self-compassion and improve emotional regulation. This approach has been invaluable for clients dealing with anxiety, as it fosters a non-judgmental attitude toward thoughts and emotions, helping them find calm amidst life’s challenges.
