Welcome! I applaud you for taking this first step in improving your mental health and wellbeing. My name is Sharon Cremin, and I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker in Washington State. I have worked in the mental health field for over 6 years, helping individuals process and heal from a variety of mental health challenges. I provide my clients with a safe, nonjudgmental and compassionate space where we will work together to explore your desired goals and outcomes. I offer several treatment modalities and the flexibility to readjust our treatment plans according to your current and changing needs.
I understand that the first counseling session can sometimes feel intimidating or be anxiety producing. I will always do my best to make you feel comfortable and at ease. My approach is to make you feel safe and heard, and not to push you into feeling like you need to disclose anything you are not ready to share. I will ask you some basic assessment question to get a general idea of your current challenges and together we will create a treatment plan that suits your needs. Building a safe and therapeutic relationship is a vital component in counseling and this begins at the very first session.
My greatest strengths include an array of interpersonal skills that enable me to listen deeply, build trust, help problem solve and facilitate personal growth. In my work with clients, I am able to generate a genuine understanding of the challenges they face, which can often be the very 1st step in someone's healing journey. My therapeutic toolbox includes a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities, and, as a 200-hour certified yoga instructor, I am also able to offer somatic and mindfulness-based interventions. My clients often report that they have felt truly heard, understood, and not judged; they have appreciated the variety of treatment methods I offer, and many have especially noted how helpful the mindfulness-based interventions have helped them with their anxiety and sleep issues.
I have worked with a variety of people who have experienced many mental health challenges including those who have an extensive history of trauma. My client-centered approach to counseling emphasizes nonjudgmental acceptance and support. I believe everyone has the capacity for self-healing and personal growth and together, we will work to address your identified mental health needs. My approach works best with individuals who are motivated to heal, can commit to attending their scheduled appointments and who will work on their stated goals. Starting therapy can feel overwhelming and somewhat frightening which is why I work on building a solid foundation of trust and a safe space for you to explore and confront your mental health challenges. Having goals that resonate with your desired needs and outcomes will help keep us both on the path towards your healing.
By using a variety of therapeutic treatment modalities, I can customize treatment to meet your specific needs. Just like "one size does not fit all," one treatment method may not address your unique challenges. An eclectic approach to psychotherapy allows me to draw from a number of different treatment modalities which can provide you with a more holistic and personalized treatment plan. My clients really seem to appreciate the flexibility and choices that an eclectic practice offers.
Many of my clients appreciate the effectiveness of CBT, especially in helping them reduce their anxiety and other mental health challenges. By exploring the landscape of how your thoughts, feelings and actions create your experiences in life, we can uncover any negative patterns that may be interfering with your overall wellbeing and causing psychological distress.
EMDR can help reduce symptoms related to trauma and the traumatic memories associated with distressing life experiences. It is a process that uses bilateral stimulation (guided eye movements) and has been shown to reduce PTSD as well as other negative psychological symptoms. My EMDR clients have reported that while they still recall the stressful or traumatic event, they no longer feel triggered or distressed by the memory. Before using this treatment modality, I would provide you with a greater understanding of the processes of EMDR, discuss its advantages, and see if it's something you want to explore.
If you are grieving the loss of a loved one, or other major losses in your life, I provide compassionate, supportive and structured counseling services. I will help you work through your feelings of loss and help you cope with any of the negative emotional and psychological impacts that may be impacting your life. The grief therapy that I provide also includes mindfulness and somatic practices that clients have reported to be most helpful while processing their grief.
IFS can help you integrate the many different parts of yourself (ego states) so you can feel more empowered to improve your mental health and your relationships. It is a compassionate approach towards self-acceptance and healing, and it is a modality that I often incorporate in many of my sessions. Clients have shared that they appreciate creative aspects involved in IFS and how it has helped them address unresolved childhood trauma.
