I am a licensed psychotherapist in Washington, DC who has practiced as a social worker, spiritual director, and bereavement counselor for over 15 years. I have a Masters of Divinity from Duke University and a Masters of Social Worker from Catholic University of America. I specialize in supporting individuals through the grief journey, whether it is associated with the transition of a loved one, an ending of a relationship, relocation, or loss of a sense of self or unrealized dream. Grief is grief and it deserves to be honored, seen, and healed.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we will create a safe space to explore your goals in therapy, assess your desired outcomes, and create a treatment plan tailored to meet your specific needs.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Having worked as a clinician for 20 years, I am uniquely skilled to hold safe space for clients at their most vulnerable moments. I am trained to move through the deeper layers of a client's emotional reservoir so we can heal the root cause of client symptoms using a holistic approach.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to serve those who are looking for a holistic approach to therapy. I believe in an integrative practice as we have so many layers: physically, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. Therefore, I tend to work with clients who desire a spiritual/energetic approach to therapy.

We were having some connectivity issues that oddly enough proved to be a great ice breaker. I feel like Kat speaks and understands my "language." I'm excited to work with her.

Kathy allows me to show up in my authentic self and learn more about how and why I am in therapy. She is real and makes me feel comfortable.

I really appreciated Katherine’s approach to grief and how open I felt with her. Sounds like she strikes a good balance of keeping it real while helping you through emotions WITHOUT being unrealistic about how much progress you can make. I will be coming back with another review as my sessions progress but upon first impression I am looking forward to working with her!
