Hello. I'm Barbara Kirkman. I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology. I have been practicing for 40 years and I now live in Texas. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. My first job was as an inpatient chemical dependency counselor. I have worked with clients from the age of for to the age of 94 in an inpatient setting and a one on one setting.

In our first session, we will get to know each other. We will assess together what your needs are and what you want from your treatment sessions. I think that I am very approachable and compassionate. I encourage personal growth and development.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My profile includes mother, grandmother (my favorite role), sister and friend. I love getting together with my friends and family when time allows. I love my work and will never totally retire. I stress personal growth and being all that you can be. I strive to accommodate my clients by being flexible. My clients are encouraged to gain self-awareness and personal growth using strategies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness and emotional regulation. I hope to help you find your best life full of meaning, joy and satisfaction.

I love working with a variety of people and have experience with both men and women who need help with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorders, PTSD, and other mental health issues. Many of my clients have life issues such as low self worth, childhood traumas, and relationship issues.
