Julie Stoker
Compassionate Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with 20 years experience providing individual, couples and family therapy. Helping individuals tackle everything from daily life struggles to deep rooted trauma and everything in between. I am caring, calm minded and highly skilled in active listening. If you feel alone, you are not. Together we can move at your pace working towards a healthier you.
First session
In our first session, we will begin the process of understanding what brought you to therapy. Together we will identify what your are struggling with along with your goals for treatment.
Strengths
My approach is what I like to call "user friendly". Making clients feel safe and comfortable is a top priority of mine. Only through that, can we really begin to dive into the difficult topics and make progress. My sessions will be structured in the sense that we will have a clear goal each time we meet, allowing you to take comfort in the process.
Ideal clients
My ideal client would be open-minded, motivated, and have the ability to trust that the process takes time. I enjoy working with adults in any capacity; whether that be in an individual setting, couples therapy or family therapy. The adult and older adult population has always been where my comfort and skills thrive the most. I feel this is a very under served population. "Just because we are adults, doesn't mean we have it all together"
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a personalized treatment style that is structured, goal oriented and is a form of talk therapy. This method is easy to participate in and yields real results with minimal time.
Cognitive Processing (CPT)
Many people who have experienced trauma in their lives respond very well to Cognitive Processing Therapy. We work together to find areas in your life we call, "Stuck Points". Things that no matter how hard you try, its still difficult to move forward. As we identify these, we can work through the trauma and healing can begin.
Compassion-Focused
Many of us suffer from harsh criticism of ourselves, and overall thoughts of not being "good enough". Compassion Focused therapy helps individuals overcome these faulty thoughts and learn to replace them with safe, soothing and positive thoughts
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
This style of therapy is rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy, but focuses specifically on mindfulness, distress tolerance and emotional regulation. This is good for someone who suffers from depression and or other mood disorders
Faith-based therapy
Faith Based Therapy is a form of mental health counseling that integrates your spiritual or religious beliefs as part of the process. Individuals rooted in their faith can use that connection to help with stress, trauma and other life altering events.
