Elizabeth Hayes
As a Board Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I have over 25 years of experience in the field of nursing and have worked in the settings of Labor and Delivery, Nursery, Home Health, Geriatrics, Emergency Care and in the Operating Room.
I have maintained Board Certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a PMHNP since graduating from Vanderbilt University in 2015.
Since 2015, I have been solely dedicated to providing high quality, evidence-based psychiatric care in both the private sector and in community-based mental health settings. I have maintained Board Certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a PMHNP since graduating from Vanderbilt University in 2015. I hold certification for completion of the Master Psychopharmacology Program from the Neuroscience Education Institute, certification as an ADHD-CCSP (Certified Clinical Services Provider), certification in Medication Assisted Treatment, and maintain a Mandatory Pre-Screening Agent status in the state of Tennessee.
First session
The first session will focus on assessment and evaluation with the development of a mutually comfortable treatment plan. You will be met where you are as we review medical and psychiatric health care, as well as a full psychosocial history and current stressors. Together, we will discuss treatment plan options, including psychotherapy and medication management.
Strengths
My greatest strengths are founded in my education and experience. As a graduate of Vanderbilt University (MSN), Middle Tennessee State University (BSN), and Illinois State University (BS, Psychology), I value academic excellence and am dedicated to life-long learning. This, coupled with committed experience and deep empathy for the human condition, offer a safe environment for client-centered mental health care where resilience may grow and flourish.
Ideal clients
I welcome clients in Tennessee, ages six and up, who are seeking care for conditions that include mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, psychotic disorders, substances use/abuse, conduct and behavior disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders (such as ADHD and ASD). As a predominantly telehealth provider, I strive to break barriers of access to high quality psychiatric care. My first goal with a client is to meet you where you are in a virtual space that allows for self care without the stress that traditional appointments can create, whether due to time. transportation, or other barriers.
Treatment methods
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing is especially beneficial when facing ambivalence and overcoming obstacles we frequently do not see ourselves, but that are revealed in the context of the therapeutic relationship. Also weaved in and out of the therapeutic relationship, it is fundamental for gaining insight into goals and values and overcoming our own resistance to achievement.
