New to Grow
Hi, I’m Sherri Moore, I am a licensed clinical social worker in Indiana. I earned my masters degree in social work from the University of Louisville in 2013. I have over 13 years of professional social work experience in the mental health field as well as the school setting. I am dedicated to helping individuals, families, and children navigate life’s most difficult seasons. I have a dual background as both a licensed clinical (LCSW) and school social worker (LSSW), which is a great asset for parents looking for help with school-related issues. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, or the lasting effects of trauma, I provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can feel truly heard. I am dedicated to reducing stigma around mental health issues and encourage others to recognize that seeking help is both necessary and acceptable. I am focused and energized by my mission to impact lives through mental health advocacy and support. I am currently accepting new clients for telehealth across Indiana.
I believe that it is important for client's to feel safe and comfortable with their therapist and will work toward building a trusting client/therapist relationship. I focus on getting to know my clients by helping them identify their strengths, supports, challenges and goals for treatment.
I am very compassionate, caring and understanding. I provide trauma-informed support for lasting change. My therapeutic approach is person-centered, allowing clients to explore feelings and achieve greater self-awareness. I have extensive training in trauma-informed therapy and utilize a variety of tools—including CBT, DBT, EMDR, motivational interviewing and solution-focused techniques—to help you identify your unique strengths and achieve self-actualization. I also employ other therapeutic approaches to meet the needs of each individual client, focusing on the "whole-person" rather than just a set of symptoms. My goal is to empower you to find balance, improve your well-being, and truly enjoy life again.
My focus treatment areas include trauma, anxiety, and depression. Other treatment areas I support in my practice are ADHD, family issues, stress management, grief and bereavement, anger management, conflict resolution (family, couple, peers) and relationship issues (peer, family, couple). I have extensive training in trauma focused therapy with both adults and children. I am also licensed as a school social worker and work with school aged clients who are struggling with behaviors and/or peer relationship issues.
Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is used as a highly structured, goal-oriented, and collaborative talking therapy. It is designed to change negative or distorted patterns of thinking and behavior. I will work with you in the present to give you practical skills instead of focusing on your past. We will work together to identify specific problems to solve each session.
EMDR
EMDR uses Bilateral Stimulation (BLS)—such as side-to-side eye movements, auditory tones, or rhythmic hand taps—to stimulate both hemispheres of the brain, allowing stuck, emotionally charged memories to transform into neutral historical facts. We will work to map out a target sequence layout, 3 areas: past traumatic memories, current triggers and future adaptive behaviors
Grief Therapy
Grief therapy will help you process the intense emotional, cognitive and physical impact of loss while adapting to a changed reality. Instead of trying to fix or cure grief I will walk with you to help integrate the loss into your ongoing life story
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I utilize DBT to help clients navigate overwhelming emotions and build healthier, more fulfilling relationships. Our work focuses heavily on building motivation, ensuring safety, and practical application of skills to manage your current life stressors. Together, we will focus on four core areas: Mindfulness: living in the present and observing your thoughts and feeling; Distress Tolerance: learning to manage high emotions without making the situation worse; Emotion Regulation: learning to effectively manage, influence and respond to your emotional experiences: and Interpersonal Effectiveness: learning to assert your needs, set boundaries, navigate conflict, maintain self-respect and keep relationships healthy.
Motivational Interviewing
Change can be difficult, which is why I use Motivational Interviewing (MI)—a supportive, goal-oriented conversation style that puts you in the driver's seat. Together, we will explore the specific directions or behaviors you wish to transform. Rather than telling you what to do, this collaborative approach helps draw out your own powerful reasons, ideas, and motivation for making a lasting shift.
