Are you feeling stuck in a never-ending cycle of negative thoughts and habits? Maybe you’re feeling unfulfilled despite all your efforts to make things work. If so, I’m here to help. I’m a bilingual therapist with over 15 years of experience who speaks English and Spanish fluently. I am really passionate about helping my clients overcome and heal from the challenges that they are facing.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll get to know each other, talk about what therapy is and answer any questions you may have. We'll then dive into the specific challenges you're facing, and explore some information about your background. We'll identify what you would like to get out of our work together. I will then offer my recommendations as to what would likely help you; we'll discuss this together and develop your treatment plan together. I usually will provide some tips that might help you start navigating the challenges you are facing, toward the end of your initial session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My main priority as a mental health counselor is to provide a place where your well-being, mental health, growth, and safety are treasured and respected. As a fellow human being, I know what trying to feel your way through the darkness is like and how scary mental health struggles can be. As a young adult, I moved to the US from Central America and experienced various challenges, including mental health difficulties. Seeking help during this time made me realize how challenging finding the proper support can be and how beneficial it can be once it is found. Being a therapist for over 15+ years has only strengthened my belief in the power of a solid therapeutic relationship. I consider it a true privilege to provide this, and I have seen time and time again how the changes we seek are within our reach; we need to uncover our inner guiding light and learn to trust ourselves. I am fortunate to have a true passion for my work and the services I provide. Seeing my clients change in ways they never thought possible brings me so much joy. This love for helping others live their best lives leads me to continue learning and finding ways to provide the most effective, efficient, and long-lasting help.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I enjoy working with adults or people in their late teens or early adulthood, who are struggling with feelings of anxiety that are preventing them from going after their goals. I also enjoy working with adults and young adults who have a history of traumatic events, and who would like to be less burdened by the emotional effects these leave behind.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I have acquired specialized advanced training in ACT and other modalities that integrate Cognitive Behavior therapies with mindfulness practices. These forms of Cognitive Behavior Therapy are based on increasing our ability to be mindful, helping us manage difficult emotions, and reducing unhelpful behaviors. If you suffer from anxiety or depression and you'd like to better manage your thoughts and emotions, these therapies might be helpful for you.

EMDR

EMDR is a treatment that has been researched extensively and has helped many people suffering from trauma. I have been using EMDR as part of my treatment approach for close to 10 years, and I offer a gentle approach to EMDR, which often leads to long-term relief from nightmares, unwanted memories, up and down emotions, and even depressed moods that stem from difficult life events. Depending on what you're dealing with, EMDR can be a very short-term treatment, or it can take a longer period of time in the case of many difficult life events.

Integrative

I believe each person is an individual, and I integrate different approaches to meet each person's individual needs. I don't believe in a "one size fits all" type of treatment, so I take the time to really get to know you, your needs and preferences, and we will tailor your treatment approach together.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy has been around for decades now and has a wide body of research, showing its efficacy in working with a range of difficulties, including depression, anxiety, trauma, behavioral difficulties, and even impulsive behaviors and addictions. I have been using this approach throughout my career as a therapist and often find it very helpful in helping people get "unstuck" from ways of thinking and acting that have caused them trouble for long periods of time.
