New to Grow
My approach to therapy is rooted in psychodynamic therapy, which means we will look at how your past experiences, early relationships, and unconscious patterns shape how you feel and act today. However, human beings are complex, and a single formula does not fit everyone. I dynamically integrate multiple therapeutic techniques—drawing from cognitive, behavioral, and mindfulness practices—tailoring each session to exactly what your unique situation warrants in the moment.I believe the clinical, sterile reputation of mental health care can often keep people from getting the support they deserve. Because of this, my primary goal is to demystify the therapeutic process and make our sessions feel as comfortable and natural as a genuine conversation. You do not need to worry about clinical jargon, cold assessments, or feeling like a case study. Instead, we will work as collaborative partners in a warm, down-to-earth space, talking through your challenges openly so you can understand yourself deeper and build a clearer path forward.
The first session is largely getting to know the client. To some extent, it is the client getting to know me. I encourage the client to ask me some questions as well.
I believe that the best growth happens when expertise meets genuine comfort and safety. While I am committed to making you feel completely at ease through relaxed, conversational sessions, I am simultaneously focused on equipping you with actionable, expert information. We are in this together—if there is ever a specific piece of information you want that I cannot answer on the spot, I will find it and bring it with me to our next session.
The basic attributes of my ideal client are: Emotional Openness: They are willing to meet, talk honestly, and explore their inner emotional world. Willingness to Try: They don't need to be experts in therapy; they just need a genuine willingness to try new approaches. Action-Oriented: Once they understand their emotions, they are open to experimenting with practical techniques to change unwanted behaviors. Collaborative Spirit: They view therapy as a partnership and understand that the real transformation happens through shared effort.
I practice an integrative form of therapy that uses a psychodynamic lens as the structural foundation for my work. While I look at your unique history and relational patterns to understand the "why," I regularly apply targeted, practical techniques—such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)—to help you manage and reframe challenges in your day-to-day life.
Technique applied to help clients change undesirable thoughts, behaviors or feelings.
Fully accept and validate one as the gender they perceive themselves to be via all forms of communication. I will help them explore the way they wish to apply this in their lives. Acceptance is key throughout.
It is not uncommon to have a very goal directed client. Sometimes Solution Focused Brief Treatment is an approach that can quickly identify and plan a way to manage a given life problem/event.
When the situation presents itself, I will definitely use past successes or failures to foster success with my current client.
