(she/her)
Hello, I am Katherine. Is anxiety causing problems in your relationships and/or career? Is there something you're struggling to move past? I am passionate about helping people heal from their trauma, break their anxiety cycle, learn how to soothe their nervous system, and reclaim their personal power. I graduated with a Master's in Counseling and have been counseling adults for 15 years. I have experience working in community mental health, inpatient detox, crisis stabilization, criminal justice system and addictions settings. My specialties include trauma, anxiety, women's issues, grief, and self-esteem. I offer insight into your experiences, help you identify patterns, and provide evidenced based treatment approaches. I aim to create a safe, compassionate space where you can honestly and directly share your thoughts and feelings. I look forward to working with you!
After your initial session, we will work together to develop short- and long-term goals based on what you need and/or want to get out of therapy. My hope for each session is that you feel heard, respected, and validated. At times therapy will be challenging, as it is a process and most of us have to learn how to work through uncomfortable emotions. Over time you'll be able to reflect on the progress you've made, feeling better and more resilient.
I believe therapeutic rapport is an essential part of the therapist-client relationship. It is also important to tailor the treatment approach to each individual's needs at the time. Utilizing an eclectic approach, I pull from my extensive experience with DBT, CBT, person centered, motivational interviewing and somatic interventions.
My biggest strengths are helping people live in the present, tend to their wounds from the past, manage and regulate their emotions, challenge irrational beliefs about themselves, others and the world, overcome codependency by building better boundaries to create space and healthy connection, and find a secure attachment with themself and with their partner.
