“I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become” Carl Jung. The choice to “choose what to become” takes incredible courage, strength and perseverance. To help you get there, we will spend time understanding what's keeping you up at night or weighing you down during the day. My aim is to fully support you on this journey whilst always honoring your personal identity and lived experience. I've lived in different parts of the world as both a child and adult and this helps me to be particular sensitive to, and experienced in, cultural/identity issues together with the challenges of transitions, be they geographical, career/retirement, or relationships. I also have extensive experience of helping with addiction. It has been said that addiction is a "feelings disease" and whether it is a substance or behavioral addiction (e.g. gambling, food, spending, sex), I focus on addressing the addiction by resolving the feelings behind it together with providing practical support for long term recovery. Therapy looks different for everyone, and we will collaborate to create a supportive and empowering therapeutic relationship tailored to your specific needs. My clients say I am warm, friendly, easy to both talk to and to confide in. So, if you are facing challenges please do reach out. And thank you for taking the time to visit my profile.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I will generally start by discovering who you are and what brings you into therapy. This can cover hearing your “life story” to better understand the issues you want to focus on. I work with you to determine what approach would be most helpful to meet your specific goals drawing from the different therapeutic modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and any others that are relevant. Whilst my main focus is on you, we may want to draw in significant others or families if this helps with your progress.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My view is that our work together is a partnership where were both actively participate. When we meet, I will listen carefully and then engage with you to understand the details of your lived experience, your perspective and needs, to identify those changes that will help alleviate your concerns. I recognize that change is difficult and takes courage and will be there to support you on this journey. I really strive to create a safe space for you to talk and to move at a pace which you feel comfortable with.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

My approach is Eclectic which means “selecting what appears to be best from various styles, doctrines, or methods”. I have extensive experience of working with people in addiction, in recovery from addiction or who think they might have a problem with addiction. It has been said that addiction is a "feelings disease", and whether it is a substance (alcohol/drugs) or behavioral addiction (e.g. gambling, spending, sex), I focus on addressing the addiction by resolving the feelings behind it. I have experience of helping people in a hospital environment, at outpatient clinics, and private practice. I look forward to meeting you!
