Hi there! My name is Chinh. If you’ve reached my page, chances are that your heart has been broken, you probably just had the umpteenth argument with your significant other, or maybe you’re stuck in a frustrating cycle of self-doubt, low self-esteem, and overwhelming thoughts that never seem to let up. Maybe it’s all of the above! Whatever brought you here — I’m glad you came. Let’s work through it together. I grew up in a culture where mental illness wasn’t something you talked about. Emotional struggles were ignored, hidden, or minimized. I was taught that sharing feelings was a weakness — that being strong meant staying silent. That experience shaped me. Today, I’m passionate about helping people unlearn those harmful beliefs and start living with more freedom, clarity, and emotional honesty. I want to help end the stigma associated with mental illness. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Texas, Louisiana, and New Mexico, and I hold a Ph.D. in Counseling. I’ve spent years working with adults, couples, and families — helping people reconnect with themselves and each other. My approach is strength-based and holistic: I believe healing doesn’t mean “fixing” you — it means understanding you, supporting you, and helping you build the life you want. Therapy can be hard work, but you don't have to do it alone. I offer a space where you can show up exactly as you are — without judgment. Let's rewrite your story together.

First session

In our first session together, we will go through the intake form to make sure everything is correct. The first session gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have, and it gives us a chance to get to know each other to determine whether it would be a good fit. Afterall, it is important for you to get to know the person you are pouring your heart out to.

Strengths

I've been told by the people closest to me that I am a great listener. I am non-judgmental and will always focus on people's strengths first and foremost. Empathy and genuineness are also traits I possess. I want to walk alongside you to help you get from a place of darkness and sadness to that of hope and healing.

Ideal clients

I love working with adults and skilled at providing therapy in both individual and couples' formats. Clients come to me with help for grief/loss issues and relationship/communication deficits.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a type of therapy that focuses on how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. The way we think about a situation can influence how we feel and how we respond. CBT helps us recognize unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge negative or inaccurate thoughts, and develop healthier ways of responding to difficult situations. The goal of CBT is not to think positively all the time, but to learn how to think more realistically, manage emotions, and make choices that support our well-being.

Gottman method

The Gottman Method is a research-based approach to couples therapy that focuses on strengthening relationships by improving communication, building trust, and developing healthier ways to manage conflict. The Gottman Method helps couples recognize unhealthy communication patterns, better understand each other's emotional needs, and learn how to navigate disagreements without damaging their connection. The goal of the Gottman Method is not to eliminate conflict, but to help couples manage disagreements respectfully, strengthen their friendship, and create a deeper sense of emotional intimacy and connection.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a collaborative, client-centered therapeutic approach that helps individuals explore their thoughts, feelings, and motivations about making positive changes in their lives. Motivational Interviewing helps clients work through uncertainty, identify personal goals, and recognize what may be preventing them from making meaningful changes. Rather than telling clients what to do, the therapist helps them discover their own reasons for change. The goal of Motivational Interviewing is to strengthen personal motivation, build confidence, and empower individuals to make decisions that align with their values and goals.

Solution-Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a goal-oriented therapeutic approach that focuses on identifying solutions, building on personal strengths, and creating positive changes rather than focusing primarily on problems or past difficulties. Solution-Focused Therapy helps clients recognize what is already working in their lives, identify their strengths and resources, and develop practical steps toward achieving their goals. The goal of Solution-Focused Therapy is to help individuals build confidence, recognize their ability to overcome challenges, and make meaningful progress through small, achievable changes.

Grief Therapy

I am a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist that uses The Grief Recovery Method (GRM) in my practice. The Grief Recovery Method is a structured, action-oriented approach that helps individuals process the emotional pain associated with loss. Grief can result from the death of a loved one, divorce, the end of a relationship, or other significant life changes. The Grief Recovery Method helps clients recognize unresolved emotions, explore what was left unsaid or unfinished, and work through feelings such as sadness, guilt, regret, and disappointment in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment. The goal of the Grief Recovery Method is not to forget the loss or eliminate grief, but to help individuals address unresolved emotional pain, find a sense of emotional completion, and move forward while honoring the significance of their experiences.
