New to Grow
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Texas, clinically licensed since 2021. I have extensive experience working with Veterans, survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV), and individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and life stressors or major transitions. My approach to therapy is collaborative, trauma-informed, and strengths-based. I believe clients are the experts of their own lives, and my role is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can explore challenges, build coping skills, and move toward meaningful change. Whether you’re adjusting to life after military service, navigating relationship difficulties, or feeling overwhelmed by stress, we will work together to create practical tools that promote healing and resilience. As an African American clinician, I am deeply committed to culturally responsive and culturally sensitive care. I understand how identity, culture, systemic barriers, and lived experiences can impact mental health. I have extensive experience working with historically marginalized communities. I also provide culturally sensitive, LBGTQIA- affirming care and I strive to create an affirming space where all clients feel seen, heard, and understood. Seeking therapy takes courage. If you’re ready to begin your journey toward clarity, emotional wellness, and empowerment, I look forward to supporting you.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and determine whether we’re a good fit. We’ll begin by discussing what brought you to therapy, your current concerns, and what you hope to gain from the process. I may ask questions about your background, relationships, mental health history, and any significant life experiences that feel relevant. You are always in control of what and how much you choose to share. This initial session is also a space for you to ask questions about my approach, expectations, and the therapy process. Together, we will begin identifying goals and discussing how we can work toward meaningful, measurable progress. Most importantly, you can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where your experiences are respected and validated. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and clear about next steps.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to build genuine, trusting therapeutic relationships. Clients often describe me as relatable, down-to-earth, and easy to talk to. I believe meaningful change happens when clients feel safe, understood, and not judged—and I work intentionally to create that kind of environment from the very beginning. I bring both strong clinical training and lived experience into the therapy space. This allows me to connect with clients in a way that feels authentic while still providing evidence-based, structured support. I balance empathy with directness, offering honest feedback and practical tools while honoring your pace and readiness for growth. I am skilled at helping clients feel comfortable discussing difficult topics, including trauma, relationship challenges, identity concerns, and emotional pain. My ability to establish rapport quickly helps clients move beyond surface-level conversations and engage in deeper, transformative work. Above all, I strive to be present, real, and culturally responsive—meeting you where you are while helping you move toward where you want to be.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I’m particularly well-suited to support individuals who: • Experience chronic worry, rumination, or anxiety • Feel impacted by toxic or emotionally complicated family relationships • Struggle with boundaries, people-pleasing, or guilt • Want to build confidence, self-trust, and healthier thinking patterns • Are motivated to better understand themselves and create meaningful change My style is collaborative, direct, and compassionate. I aim to create a space where clients feel heard and understood, while also being gently challenged to grow and move toward the life they want.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
My approach is grounded in evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with a focus on helping clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, build emotional awareness, and develop practical coping strategies. I also incorporate elements of Schema Therapy to address deeper, long-standing beliefs about self-worth, relationships, and safety.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients build practical skills for managing intense emotions, improving relationships, and reducing impulsive or unhelpful behaviors. DBT is especially helpful for individuals who feel overwhelmed by their emotions, struggle with distress tolerance, or experience patterns of conflict in relationships.
Strength-Based
I use a strengths-based approach to help clients recognize and build on the abilities, resilience, and inner resources they already have. Rather than focusing solely on problems or symptoms, I work with clients to identify what’s working, what has helped them cope in the past, and the personal qualities that can support growth and change.
Trauma Informed Care
I use a trauma-informed approach to ensure that therapy feels safe, respectful, and empowering for each client. Grounded in Trauma-Informed Care, I recognize how past experiences can shape thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and I work at a pace that feels comfortable for the client.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I incorporate mindfulness-based therapy to help clients become more aware of their thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations in the present moment without judgment. Drawing from Mindfulness-Based Therapy, I teach clients how to slow down, observe their internal experiences, and respond more intentionally rather than reacting automatically.
