Dr. Kamal Dampella
I’m Kamal Dampella. I am dual board-certified in Psychiatric Mental Health and Family Medicine. I help people navigate anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, sleep difficulties, among many others through thoughtful psychiatric evaluation and medication management. My approach is compassionate, practical, and collaborative. I take time to understand your concerns, explain your options, and develop a treatment plan that fits your needs and goals. My background in psychiatry and family medicine helps me consider how your physical health, mental health, and everyday experiences connect. I want you to feel heard, respected, and comfortable asking questions about your care.
You deserve to feel heard and involved in your care. I provide personalized psychiatric care and medication management to help you move toward better overall health.
First session
Our first session is a chance to get to know each other and understand what brings you to care. We will discuss your symptoms, medical and mental health history, previous treatments, current medications, and goals. I will also ask about sleep, daily functioning, and other factors that may affect how you feel. We will review my initial impressions and discuss treatment options, including whether medication may be helpful. You will have time to ask questions and share your preferences. My goal is for you to leave with a clearer understanding of your concerns and a practical plan for next steps. Some concerns may require additional information or further assessment before we decide on treatment.
Strengths
I bring a calm, nonjudgmental approach and a background in both psychiatry and family medicine. I listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and explain treatment options in clear language so you can make informed decisions. When medication is appropriate, we discuss its potential benefits, side effects, and how we will evaluate your progress. Together, we set realistic goals and adjust your care based on your response and feedback.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone seeking support for anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, sleep difficulties, or anything else, who wants to better understand their symptoms and explore treatment options. You may be seeking care for the first time, returning after a difficult experience, or wondering whether your current medications are helping. You do not need to have everything figured out before we meet. I welcome questions, honest feedback, and a willingness to work together toward goals that matter to you, such as feeling more focused, sleeping better, managing emotions, or being more present in daily life.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT-informed strategies to help clients recognize connections between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we explore unhelpful thinking patterns and develop practical ways to respond to anxiety, low mood, and everyday stress. This may include examining negative assumptions, breaking overwhelming tasks into manageable steps, or building healthier routines. I incorporate these strategies into psychiatric care alongside medication management when appropriate, with an emphasis on skills you can practice between appointments.
