New to Grow
I am an Art Therapist and Counselor with a lifelong passion for creativity and self-expression. Over the years, I’ve explored many forms of art, including drawing, painting, interior design, floral design, and card making. Creativity has always been a grounding and meaningful part of my life, and I bring that same spirit into my work with clients. I also feel deeply connected to nature and find that being outdoors—especially near water—is where I feel most like myself. This connection influences how I approach healing, often integrating creativity and the natural world into the therapeutic process. I came to this field through a desire to both help others and stay connected to my creative side. My experience includes working with young children, teens in foster care and the juvenile justice system, adults facing housing insecurity, and individuals living with traumatic brain injuries. As someone who identifies as more introverted, I value depth and authenticity. I’m drawn to meaningful conversations and strive to create a space where clients feel comfortable exploring who they are on a deeper level.
In our first session, we’ll start by reviewing some background information about me and how I work. I’ll go over important details such as scheduling, confidentiality, and my overall approach to therapy, and I’ll make sure there’s space for any questions you may have. We’ll also spend time getting to know you. This includes talking about what brought you to therapy and what you’re hoping to get out of the process. I’ll ask some intake questions to better understand your history, such as your family background, mental health history, school experiences, and current social supports. The first session is meant to be a comfortable, open space where you can begin sharing at your own pace. My goal is for you to feel heard, informed, and supported as we begin working together.
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to help you strengthen and trust your inner voice. I truly believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to support you in reconnecting with that truth and building confidence in your own insight and intuition. I take an integrative approach to therapy, recognizing that there is no single “right” way to support growth and healing. Instead, I tailor our work to fit who you are, adapting methods and strategies as I get to know you and your unique needs. While I offer a warm, supportive, and validating space, I am also an active and engaged therapist. I will share different perspectives, suggest practical strategies, provide psychoeducation, and offer thoughtful recommendations when it feels helpful. Our work together is collaborative—we will partner to explore what works best for you and support you in achieving your goals in a way that feels authentic and sustainable.
My ideal client is an adult woman or individual navigating a meaningful life transition. This might include the end of a relationship, contemplating a separation, shifting careers, or simply feeling disconnected from a life that no longer feels aligned with who they truly are. Often, these clients are at a turning point—seeking clarity, deeper self-understanding, and a stronger sense of purpose. I am best positioned to support clients who want to reconnect with their intuition, rediscover their creativity, and begin living more authentically. They may feel stuck, uncertain, or out of alignment, but also have a willingness—whether strong or emerging—to explore themselves more deeply. I especially enjoy working with clients who are open to or curious about integrating eco-therapy and art therapy into the healing process. I believe creative expression can access parts of ourselves that traditional talk therapy may not always reach, offering insight, release, and transformation in unique ways. I also believe that many feelings of disconnection stem from a lack of connection with the natural world. Incorporating time in nature can be a powerful and grounding aspect of healing, helping clients reconnect not only with the environment, but with themselves. Together, the work centers on creating a life that feels more aligned, meaningful, and true to who they are.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
In my practice, I use person-centered therapy as a foundational approach because I view each client as the expert on their own life, experiences, and needs. My role is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, understood, and accepted. Through this approach, I aim to help clients reconnect with their inner sense of trust and wisdom. Rather than directing or prescribing solutions, I focus on facilitating self-exploration so clients can better understand themselves and their values. This process often allows individuals to align more closely with their intuition, strengthen their sense of autonomy, and make choices that feel authentic and meaningful to them.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
In my practice, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) because I believe that the way we think about situations significantly influences how we feel and behave. By helping clients identify and understand patterns in their thoughts, we can begin to explore how these patterns may be contributing to emotional distress or unhelpful behaviors. I incorporate CBT through a combination of psychoeducation, guided discussions, and practical tools such as worksheets or exercises. This collaborative process allows clients to examine their thinking, challenge unhelpful or distorted thoughts, and develop more balanced and constructive perspectives. Ultimately, CBT supports clients in building skills they can use independently, empowering them to respond to challenges in ways that promote emotional well-being and more intentional behavior.
