I am a multilingual (English, Spanish, & Portuguese) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with clinical experience working with athletes, children, adolescents, and adults, including 2SLGBTQIA+, Latinx, immigrant, and foster/adopted parenting communities. I work with clients individually, dyadically, and in groups. I hope to convey warmth, compassion, and non-judgmental curiosity to every client with whom I am honored to enter into a clinical partnership. Meeting you where you are at, my aim is to provide a safe and confidential environment in which we can collaboratively explore factors that may be impeding your ability to live an engaged and meaningful life on your terms, as well as ways to overcome them. My responsibility as a clinician is to help you feel seen, heard, and understood after every session and more deeply connected to your mind, body, and heart. Recognizing that healing does not occur in a vacuum, I approach my clinical work through an inclusive liberation-focused lens that acknowledges systems of oppression, validates their impact on you, and champions your identities with respect to gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, religion and spirituality, neurodivergence, body expression and body size, and dis/ability. Navigating the intersection of our respective individual identities through open dialogue, with careful consideration of privileged and historically marginalized identities, is of the highest importance to me.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

As a white queer Portuguese-American non-binary femme, grandchild of immigrants, and former youth caregiver, I bring a well of compassion, inner tenacity, grounded humor, and lived experience that inform my clinical work. While the approach I take varies depending on each person’s circumstances, I practice holistically and eclectically, and I am strongly influenced by psychodynamic/psychoanalytic theories, particularly contemporary relational psychodynamic thought and psychodynamic play therapy, mindfulness and contemplative practices and modalities, expressive arts therapies, trans-affirming Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), humanistic and multicultural feminist thought, somatics, and parts work (Internal Family Systems). I specialize in anxiety, gender and sexuality concerns, identity exploration, depression, trauma, including complex trauma, life transitions, grief and loss, and complex relational dynamics.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Clients have described me as warm, adaptable, and deeply compassionate. I am able to effectively hold your unique lived experiences in the context of greater systems that impact you as well as how you see yourself: family systems, social systems, etc. I am able to hold in mind your presenting challenges holistically (seeing the bigger picture) as well as with attention to detail and complex relational dynamics.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is curious, ambitious, and eager to reflect on ways in which navigating current life challenges and transitions serve them as well as changes they would like to make. I pride myself on working with clients from a variety of backgrounds as well as my ability to connect deeply with folks from diverse paths of life. I work best with clients who are eager to develop a strong therapeutic relationship and approach our time together collaboratively.

My treatment methods

Somatic

I incorporate mind-body awareness techniques to help a client orient to their internal experience (thoughts, feelings, and body sensations) to develop greater self awareness and emotional regulation.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I help clients explore how thoughts, including cognitive errors impacted by anxiety, impact a client's feelings, behaviors, and overall quality of life. I help clients identify when anxiety is impacting a client's thought processes and explore alternative thoughts that reduce a client's anxiety.

Trauma Informed Care

I have obtained post-graduate additional training in trauma informed care, including developmental trauma. I help clients explore past traumatic experiences that may be impacting their current quality of life.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I practice with cultural humility and consider a client's social location, intersecting identities, and ethnic background when working with them. I consider how my identities intersect with a client's and engage in open discussion around this. I provide therapy in three languages (English, Spanish, and Portuguese).

Grief Therapy

I help clients process difficult experiences related to grief, including losing a loved one or pet to death as well as ambiguous loss involving a relational loss (to illness, relocation, etc.) that leads to feelings of grief.
