Greetings! I am a Double-Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of healthcare experience servicing patients in Illinois, Oregon, and Washington. Doctorate Completion 12/25. I see patients from the age of 3 to 80+. I offer in person and virtual sessions. * Military * Healthcare Professionals * Education Professionals* *Pregnancy-Mental Health Concerns* *Late Night Appointments* * Co-occurring Addiction Concerns* I have over 13 years of experience helping adults, children, and families with ASD, Mood Disorders, Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, disabilities, or special needs. I strive to educate and guide clients through the medication management process. All clients do not need medication. We often start with holistic approaches or combine holistic and traditional medications to improve overall mental health wellness. I laugh, get silly with patients, and genuinely enjoy helping families learn, grow, and gain confidence in supporting themselves, children, and other loved ones with their mental health concerns.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, clients can expect to learn more about my psychiatry philosophy and my treatment beliefs as a provider. I allow the client and/or family to express their needs and expectations and seek to answer questions or reservations concerning mental health treatment. You can expect no judgment but the development of solutions based on your beliefs. Lastly, why pay for mental health if you are not going to be heard? It is not about what I want. It is about what is best for your mental health journey.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength as a provider is to allow the client to spearhead their treatment plan instead of dictating how they feel, what they need, and the way their treatment shall progress over time. I value the patient's opinion. I view the provider-patient relationship as a mutual parternship centered around respect for one another.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I enjoy working with children from the age of 3 to 17. I have worked as an educator for school districts, hospitals, and corporations. I have learned that if parents are not given the tools and support they need early on, children develop poor coping skills, decline academically, and are prone to bullying and ridicule. I work with a lot of medical staff and military workers. I also enjoy helping adults 18-80 function better so that they can continue working, taking care of their family, and feel good about themselves. Although, I do not see adults with addictions or substance abuse. I have good relationships with my adult clients. I aim to treat people with respect, dignity, and care about what matters to them. Building provider-patient trust is an essential component of mental health treatment. Women with perinatal and postpartum mental health has been rewarding for me. I hope that I may be a resource to help you maintain your sanity while trying to raise children, take care of your family, and, in some cases, work. Mothers often put themselves last; my goal is to support you so that we can find ways to help you feel better and function in your new journey.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a common therapy used for patients with anxiety, depression, neurocognitive disorders, mood disorders and more. CBT is used with behavior modification strategies to improve the way the patient and family solves problems to help them function better.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

We strive to help parents and children learn how to cope with one another to build rapport and strengthen their relationship. We will help families with simple steps to restore trust while facilitating communication within the family structure.

Motivational Interviewing

MI is particularly valuable because it emphasizes the client's autonomy and intrinsic motivation for change, which can be especially beneficial for individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, and ADHD. We will encourages clients to talk more about their experiences and feelings. Through affirmations, clients will build strength and trust in their own abilities; therefore making more steps to accomplish their goals. We will also acknowledge and validate your feelings. You are a valuable member of the treatment team.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is all about leveraging a person's existing resources and strengths to make measurable progress toward their personal goals. It emphasizes what's working and helps clients envision and work towards their preferred future rather than focusing on problems and past failures. We set feasible and measurable goals so that you feel accomplished and progress toward your mental health journey. We cannot change the past, but we can pivot the future.
