Greetings! I am so glad you are here and exploring participating in therapy services. My name is Brianna, and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois. I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wheaton College and have been in the therapy field for the last 9 years. I work with Children, Adolescents and Adults as well as families and specialize in treating Anxiety and Depression, Trauma, Mood/ Behavior, and Family Systems work. I most commonly use Narrative Therapy, ACT and Trauma Informed- CBT approaches with my clients as well as Art and Play Therapy. I take an individualized approach with each client or family, and strongly believe in forming a strong base of trust and transparency with all of my clients. I approach therapy from a place of sincerity and compassion, believing all clients have unique gifts and strengths. We will work collaboratively to tailor sessions to your needs and goals, placing high importance on openness, stability, and authenticity in the therapy relationship at all times.
In our first appointment we will have time to go over any questions you may have about working together or about therapy in general. I will also ask more about your goals for therapy and personal background, so that we can ensure the appointments feel like a valuable use of your time and that you feel comfortable working together. We will also review "housekeeping" topics such as confidentiality, how to connect between sessions if needed, frequency of meetings, scheduling, etc.
My areas of strength include working with individuals who have underlying trauma that may be impacting current symptoms related to anxiety, depression or mood disorders and taking an integrated approach to therapy treatment. Additionally, I focus on looking at entire family systems as well as the "whole person" approach. We are always more than are symptoms or current stressors, and I focus on diving into more than coping strategies so that we can not only learn how to manage our stressors, but truly heal from anything that is underneath the surface.
I commonly use this approach to provide space for clients to identify their own values and ways this can create "committed action" steps leading to a more fulfilled lifestyle.
I work with children and parents together to understand their relationships, communication patterns, and explore opportunities for growth. One person is not the "problem" rather we can learn and grow from one another.
I work within entire family systems to explore opportunities for growth and capitalize off of each families strengths, values, and core beliefs. We work as a team together and I maintain a space where each member feels safe and heard.
Narrative Therapy provides a space for us to take a step back and look at life through your eyes and experiences. Viewing the different parts of life as "chapters" provides the opportunity to gain greater sense of control in how you relate to your past, as well as freedom to move on to new chapters that bring new value and meaning to each individual.
