I help clients find meaningful and lasting healing through reconnection with the mind, body and and soul so that they can live an embodied life. My name is Atara and I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I specialize in clients looking to work on developing a deeper understanding between the mind and body connection. I use somatic approaches in my work such as because holistic healing does not just happen in the mind. I love to support clients in creating a sustainable vision. The goal in my work is to empower clients on gaining clarity to obtain holistic balance in mind, body, and soul. I believe that a strong therapeutic connection is vital and progress can be limited when a client doesn’t feel understood. My aim is to align with my clients so that they can feel understood and seen but also unravel the beliefs that no longer serve them.
In our first session, we will discuss what brings you into this space, dive into some background and history as well as collaborate on goals you wish to set for our time together. We will begin building safety in connection and understanding so that the isolation you have felt is not longer a suppressor.
I have great success with supporting clients overcome depression and anxiety symptoms by utilizing lifestyle shifts, nutrition, supplementation and mindfulness. When the mind is supported it can allow the body to heal and vise versa. It’s so powerful to watch clients cease their struggles with chronic illness and find freedom again. One of my favorite populations to work with are moms. Burnt out, exhausted, and stressed? I’d love to help you cope and heal your body, especially in the postpartum stages. Motherhood does not have to be a marathon of trials. Lastly, I utilize somatic techniques that engage the brain and nervous system in a different way than talk therapy. In my opinion, having the body support the healing mind is essential.
In therapy we will: 1) work together to calm that nervous system 2) identify the beliefs that keep you from peace 3) make sense of the changes in your physical body that impact your mind. Let's rebalance that shame so overwhelm doesn't run your life and you can engage fully without destructive narratives guiding how you engage. If you struggle with perfectionism, always putting yourself last and drowning in the "shoulds", we will work to unravel these and connect with your values for more ease in life.
Existential therapy is a focus on the human condition and the driving questions we often wrestle with such as: Who am I? What is my purpose? What gives my life meaning? I use these questions as guideposts in my work while incorporating practical skills and body work.
Brainspotting is a method of therapy that supports the brain and body. Brainspotting Therapy reveals, disrupts, and releases negative thoughts associated with memories and can help shift them. Client's typically describe the experiences as gentle, meditative, and feeling in control of the experience. Brainspotting is powerful but also highly effective; client's experience shifts in as little as one session.
If burnout and exhaustion has been running your life, let's fix that! Easy, attainable, enjoyable. That’s our goal here. You can feel empowered, confident and connected to your health. No more rollercoasters of mood and energy. You can feel mental clarity throughout the day that allows you to accomplish goals you are passionate about. You can listen to your body’s needs and listen with care, not criticism. After a short time of work together, you’ll say “I’ve got this! I know what works for my body because I can FEEL a difference.” I support clients in examining their metabolic health to make their mental health resilient.
