My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been formally trained in this theoretical model since graduate school. Although it is considered a structured, goal-oriented type of talk therapy, I also use it in a collaborative and engaging manner with clients. CBT help manage mental health conditions, such as depression and anxiety, and emotional concerns, such as coping with grief or stress. CBT can also help manage nonpsychological health conditions, such as insomnia and chronic pain.

Great session with Dr. Smith today. He helped me realize that traditionally negative emotions aren't always bad, and that I have to first identify the true emotion I'm feeling and then explore why I'm feeling it. I believe this type of thinking puts me on the road to the emotional intelligence I desire, so I can self-regulate and present my best self to the people I love and interact with on a daily basis.
