New to Grow
Hi! My name is Chelsee and I am a licensed mental health therapist in Florida. I would recommend you take a peek at my profile to learn more about my background to determine if I am the right fit for you. Feel free to ask questions to ensure you make an educated decision to determine if I am indeed a good fit. I'm a very laid back therapist and try to keep things more conversational; I want to make sure you are comfortable so we can create a healthy environment for you to continue to grow. People would describe my therapy style as engaging, relaxing, fun (I like to laugh), and above all else; supportive. I believe that we all have strengths and I love to focus on those strengths. I believe that you are an expert on your own life, but I am here to hold a flashlight into some of the parts of you where you may not have noticed. I am honest and I will ask questions to make sure that I understand what you are saying. I love life work, so I may send you worksheets if I believe it will be beneficial to you.
The first session will be focused on getting to know each other to make sure we are a proper fit. I will work to get to know you as a person rather than just focusing on symptoms or diagnosis. We will go over your current concerns, personal history, daily functioning, relationships, strengths, stressor, and overall worldview to better understand how the client experiences themselves and the world around them. I explore goals for therapy, identify areas the client would like to improve, and begin discussing what approaches may best fit their needs. My goal in the first session is to create a comfortable, collaborative environment where clients feel heard, understood, and supported while also beginning to build a strong therapeutic rapport.
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to build genuine, authentic connections with clients while still maintaining a structured and goal-oriented approach to treatment. I believe the client is the expert on their own life, and my role is not to tell someone who they are, buy to help guide exploration through thoughtful questions, insight, skill-buildong, and collaborative discussion. I strive to meet clients where they are emotionally, mentally, and behaviorally, recognizing that progress looks different for everyone. My approach is direct, conversational, and approachable. I often use real-life examples, practical applications, and humor when appropriate to help clients feel more comfortable and connected during sessions. While therapy can involve difficult topics, I believe growth does not always have to happen in a cold or overly clinical environment. I value authenticity, strong rapport, small wins, and creating space where clients feel safe enough to be honest, challenged enough to grow, and supported enough to continue showing up as themselves.
I work well with individuals who may feel overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or unsure of how to move forward, but are open to self-exploration and personal growth. I work well with clients who value a supportive approach and are looking for a therapist who is both authentic and collaborative. Many of the individuals I work with are navigating anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, relationship and dating difficulties, life transitions, or patterns no longer serving them.
Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help clients identify unhelpful thinking patterns, emotional responses, and behaviors which may be contributing to distress or keeping them feeling "stuck." We build healthy coping skills, improve emotional regulations, and create realistic and meaningful changes for your everyday life.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use DBT in a structured, practical way which helps clients actively track patterns and measure progress over time rather than simply talking through challenges each session. We will monitor emotions, urges, behaviors, and coping skills to identify trends, triggers, and areas for growth.
Motivational Interviewing
I use MI to help clients explore ambivalence, strengthen motivation, and build confidence through small changes to meet goals. Rather than pushing clients through decisions. I focus on creating conversations that help to identify goals, values, barriers, and reasons for change.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
At its core, therapy is found to be most successful based on the client-therapist relationship. I believe a strong therapeutic rapport is one of the most important parts of effective therapy, as meaningful progress often begins when clients feel safe, comfortable, and understood.
