Hey there! My name is Heather and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas. I graduated from Lamar University in August 2022 with a Masters of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Relevant work experience includes working within the Texas prison system providing mental health services to inmates, working with children under conservatorship of Child Protective Services, and general outpatient case management.
For our first session, we will focus on specific concerns you have and what your goals are for your future. From there, we will collaborate on a plan to achieve those goals and will work our way through that plan in follow-up sessions.
I believe that women face special issues in the world, and I am passionate about making them feel understood, validated, and not so alone.
I enjoy working with women who are seeking to enrich their lives by loving who they are on the inside and out, but need a little help getting there. They may not totally trust their ability to make decisions in fear of making mistakes, and tend to beat themselves up when they do. They may be experiencing uncomfortable feelings of helplessness and believe there is no hope of ever feeling better. They may not even remember the last time you were content, let alone happy.
Heather Howlett offers therapy covered by UnitedHealthcare/Optum - Medicaid in Texas.
I focus on the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help identify thoughts that are not serving you. Together we can explore the meaning behind these feelings and ways to combat them. I believe that our thought patterns have a lot to do with our daily life and many of us, for various reasons, are wired to think negatively.
