I work with women in their 40s and 50s whose life looks great on paper but feel discontent and boxed in by their own life. After taking care of other people's needs over their own for years, too many women reach “middle age” and are faced with finding their own identity outside of their kids and career. This leaves them feeling confused, overwhelmed, and discontent. Left unaddressed, discontent quickly turns to resentment and makes matters worse. If you’re struggling with resentment in your relationships with your partner, kids, or your life, I can help. I’ve worked with hundreds of clients over the past 17 years as a therapist, helping them become more intentional about how they live their lives. In addition, I have over 17 years experience with adolescents and their parents...I love teenagers! The world has changed, and our parenting has changed with it. Teens and parents, I'd love to help you navigate and work on your relationships.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

First, please know that everyone is welcome with me, with all their issues. Second, I use a variety of modalities that are helpful and healing. And third, I want everyone to get their money's worth out of therapy, so while I’m very relaxed and easy to talk to, I also ask the tough questions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

A good therapist is in therapy themselves. There, I said it, and I meant it. I started focusing on conducting therapy for women in their 40’s and 50’s when I was trying to be intentional about raising emotionally healthy kids of my own. This involved me doing my own work in therapy, and reparenting myself in areas of self-worth, boundaries, and identifying unhealthy relationships/habits/traits. When I talked with the adults and friends I was doing life with, I realized most of us who were around the same age were struggling with the same issues. I love the awareness and healing that therapy has brought myself and others. I love the safety, security, and non-judgment that the therapy space and therapeutic relationship provides. I’m divorced with three joyful and energetic sons, and one loving and adoring dog, Penny. In my free time I love to read, hang with friends, and throw epic pool parties. I practice the Christian Faith, and am happy to incorporate faith into counseling if the client wishes. I am also inclusive of and an advocate for all faiths, races, and gender and sexuality minorities.

My treatment methods

Brainspotting

The goal of every therapy is to move clients from dysregulation to regulation; to teach us to feel our feelings, allow them to be present. When we are activated or worked up about an issue mentally, it correlates with a location of the body. (tense in gut, chest, etc.) BSP interrupts that pattern that is causing dysregulation in a gentle way that allows the system to reorient into a more healthy and restorative response pattern.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Clients often arrive for therapy having done as much 'work' on their own as possible...I'm there to help make connections that are just out of reach and work toward acceptance. Through ACT, we begin to accept our hardships and our 'hard' emotions. Gone are the days when we try to get rid of them...we will train ourselves to feel them, accept them, and use alternative ways to change our thoughts and behavior.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I value diversity and am committed to learning. If I do not currently possess the skills and knowledge of a client's culture I will either work with the client to find a better match, or spend time outside of the set therapy time to learn and educate myself. I will not expect or rely on a client to educate me on their culture, unless they desire to do so; instead it is my responsibility as a therapist to do so on my own time.

Family Therapy

Family Therapy is only offered in person, and self-pay ($250/100 minutes). Skilled in listening and keeping 'the main thing the main thing,' together we will work toward a safe experience for all participating members to express and discuss.
