30 years of experience

I believe that trauma is experienced in relationship and through relationship trauma is healed as well. It's my hope that I will always be the kind of clinician with whom my client can develop a relationship that enables them to experience a measure of healing during each encounter we have. It is also my hope that I will empower every client, through providing them with all of my knowledge and skills, in a manner that will work me out of a job. My agenda is to provide each client with skills that, when implemented, will carry them through every challenging situation that they might encounter so they can be successful in living life on purpose.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients can expect that the first session will be geared towards our getting to know each other. They can also expect that the session will focused on my building and understanding of why they feel they need therapy and the goal/s they feel is important to them.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths is my agility with integrating my skills, knowledge, and talents to meet their needs in manner that is respectful and compassionate. I pride myself on always being honest, transparent, and an active listener who is open-minded.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am positioned to provide clinical assistance to any client who feels I might be able to help them to help themselves. The age range I prefer working with are clients ages 18 and above. I am also open to hear needs of those who may fall outside of this range and consider providing care on a case-by-case basis.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

Cognitive processing therapy (CPT) is a Evidenced Based cognitive-behavioral treatment for treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and its related problems. though developed for PTSD specifically It is also useful for treating persons who have experienced trauma and need help with moving past that trauma. Upon completion of this evidenced based treatment trauma survivors are able to live who they are more authentically and enables it each person who has completed the treatment to have a fuller life. The goal of the therapist is to identify and explore how your trauma or traumas have changed your thoughts and beliefs, and how some of these ways of thinking may keep you “stuck” in your symptoms associated with the trauma(s). Even more, CPT does not involve repeatedly reviewing the details of your trauma(s). However, CPT does seek to examine the experiences in order to understand how they have affected your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. The overall goals of CPT are to improve your symptoms created by your traumatic event, and any associated symptoms you may have (such as depression, anxiety, guilt, or shame). It also aims to improve your day-to- day living. I have at least 10-15 clients who are actively engaged in the treatment regimen now. Additionally, I have had at least 5-10 client who have graduated and experienced significant improvements in their lives overall.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

Skills Training in Affect and Interpersonal Regulation- (STAIRS) this treatment approach is highly effective, and flexible in its application, for reducing challenges presented due to low levels of emotions and feelings awareness. STAIRs is an Evidenced Based Treatment model developed for individuals who have experienced trauma through building emotional and feeling self-awareness that has been blocked by repeated ignoring of the impact of a traumatic stressor in the life of a person who experienced that trauma. The primary outcome of this treatment is to improve the person/s being treated ability to be emotionally regulated thus improving interpersonal relationships and the quality of their lives overall.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

This therapeutic approach has been a staple in my clinical tool box since I becoming licensed in 2008. It provides the bases for rapport building, motivation, information gathering to complete psychosocial assessments, treatment plan development, and ongoing therapeutic engagement. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a form of psychological treatment that has proven to be an effective treatment for a range of challenges which include depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol and drug use problems, marital problems, eating disorders, and severe mental illness etc... There have been numerous research studies that confirm that CBT improves functioning and quality of life for clients when used appropriately. I also use CBT to maintain gains achieved while providing Evidenced Based treatment modalities that are also staples of my clinical tool box.

Trauma-Focused CBT

As noted by Bessel Vander Kolk trauma that takes place in relationship can only be healed in a relationship. I too believe that it is through our relationships that trauma is sometimes created and perpetuated through-out generations. I also believe, that with intentional effort, that the family unit is also the vehicle that trauma can be healed. Alternatives for Families: a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (AF-CBT) is a trauma-informed evidence-based treatment (EBT) designed to improve the relationships between children and caregivers in families involved in arguments/conflict, physical force/discipline/aggression, child physical abuse, or child behavior problems. though I have not directly initiated this therapeutic approach in it entirety since becoming involved with veterans. However. I have used many of the techniques found in this approach to address intergenerational family dysfunctions maladaptive attachment patterns that stem from familial lifelong patterns in the lives of my clients today. I obtained my certification in this Evidenced Treatment approach in
