Hi, I am Cristina! I am eager to meet you and help you on your life journey. I focus on improving client’s ability to manage the difficulties and challenges life brings while building stronger more reliable coping skills. I can help with healthier habit formation so you can achieve your personal and professional goals. I bring a mindfulness approach that focuses on non-judgment, compassion and identifying your strengths even when you may have trouble seeing them. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 15 years experience in mental health and over 25 years in the wellness field. I have a Masters of Science Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Carolina - Greensboro. I look forward to connecting with you and improving your life experience!
We will get to know each other on our first session. Clients sometimes feel very vulnerable in therapy sessions and I want to make sure we are a good fit and that you feel comfortable. I will ask you what you hope to achieve, any goals you may already have or we can create them together. We will go over some of your history and decide best course of treatment.
Creating an environment of safety and non-judgement where you can share your most difficult thoughts and feelings. Being with you as you uncover hurt and allow room for growth in ways that you may not have thought possible. Helping you see your goodness and how to use your strengths to tackle challenges. I empower client to believe in themselves!
I can help you connect to the best version of yourself. If you are struggling with a life decision, a big change or creating healthy habits that can improve your happiness and satisfaction in life, we will work great together. Whether this be professional or personal goals that you just can't seem to achieve because at times, you are your own worst enemy. Let's change that so you can be your own best friend!

Mindfulness-Based Therapy
My orientation in therapy is Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). I have helped clients develop improved emotional regulation to decrease emotional eating, anxiety, depression and improve feelings of self-worth and positive coping. I have run groups to assist with eating disorders, specifically binge eating tendencies.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
The ACT approach complements my MBCT approach by adding a focus on values and exploring and identifying what is most important to you. It gives us a direction for your treatment.
Compassion Focused
I use a Compassion Focused approach to mitigate negative self-talk, improve feelings of self-worth, improve self-acceptance and self-forgiveness. In this approach we learn that we are not alone in our suffering.
Mind-body approach
Connecting with how your body feels can be a critical step in developing self-awareness which is paramount to growth and increased joy and self-acceptance. When appropriate, I may use a mindfulness approach to help you connect with your body sensations that provide information on how to navigate difficult moments.
Strength-Based
I believe identifying your strengths is key to improving feelings of self-worth. We will work on developing and highlighting them in therapy so you can strengthen them.

Cristina is helping me immensely. She is attentive and extremely compassionate, I find her really easy to talk to, even about the hard stuff. I don’t feel so alone anymore and I have new coping skills and outlooks, which I had all but given up on. Therapy is not exactly my favorite thing, and I find myself looking forward to my sessions with Cristina. That pretty much says it all. Thank you!

Absolutely wonderful first session. Cristina gave me some different view points and deeper thoughts about the issues I want to work on. She was very warm and compassionate. She asked many questions but they were all questions that made sense for figuring out if we were a good fit for each other. She is also the first therapist I’ve ever seen who asked me about my childhood.I would highly recommend her.
