New to Grow
My name is Kelly Merrick, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor of Mental Health (LPCMH) dedicated to providing compassionate, client-centered care for children, adolescents, and young adults. I specialize in helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral challenges, emotional regulation difficulties, and life transitions. My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed, incorporating evidence-based therapies such as CBT, DBT, Parent-Child Psychotherapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Family Therapy to support clients in building resilience, developing healthy coping skills, and achieving meaningful personal growth.
During our first session, we will spend time getting to know one another and discussing what brings you to therapy. I will ask questions about your current concerns, personal history, relationships, strengths, and goals to gain a better understanding of your unique experiences and needs. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions about the therapy process and share what you hope to achieve through counseling. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel comfortable sharing at your own pace. Together, we will begin identifying goals for treatment and develop a plan tailored to your needs, helping you take the first steps toward healing, growth, and positive change.
I bring a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental approach to every session, creating a safe space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported. I strive to build strong therapeutic relationships through empathy, authenticity, and collaboration. I am dedicated to meeting each client where they are and tailoring treatment to their unique needs, strengths, and goals. In addition, I utilize evidence-based and trauma-informed interventions to help clients develop practical coping skills, improve emotional regulation, process difficult experiences, and build resilience. My experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families allows me to adapt my approach to support clients through a wide range of challenges while fostering growth, confidence, and lasting change.
My ideal client is a child, adolescent, or young adult who is experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, emotional regulation difficulties, behavioral challenges, or life transitions. I enjoy working with clients who may be struggling to understand or express their emotions and helping them develop effective coping skills, improve self-esteem, and build resilience. I also value working collaboratively with families and caregivers to strengthen support systems and promote lasting positive change. My therapeutic approach is warm, trauma-informed, and tailored to each client’s unique developmental and emotional needs.
