In my counseling practice, my clients can expect to take away practical tools and strategies to manage depression, improve mood, and regain control over their lives. You will find a safe space to discuss your struggles, set meaningful goals, and engage in value-driven activities. For those dealing with trauma or PTSD, we will work on healing and developing post-traumatic growth using CBT and narrative therapy. I truly believe that my approach will allow for you to feel understood and supported in a way that will address your unique challenges.
In your first session, you will find that the atmosphere will be relaxed and open. Usually the first session is different because it is an intake and I will be asking you a lot of different questions. You will however have plenty of time to share about what is going on that led you to therapy. At the end, we will set a goal for therapy and this will be a goal that is meaningful and important to you.
In sessions I strive to listen and to understand what you are saying without jumping in and offering my opinion. I've found that by simply listening, people will often feel validated and they have a platform to make sense of their thoughts as they say them out loud. I don't hold people's words against them, especially because I know how difficult therapy is. And when I do offer an idea, I welcome you to let me know that I am off base! Valuable opinions about life are formed when there is healthy disagreement.
In my counseling practice, I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with a variety of other evidence-based treatment modalities to address depression, men’s issues, and trauma/PTSD. For those battling depression, we focus on reshaping unhealthy thought patterns and setting achievable goals, empowering you to not just manage your symptoms but truly thrive in life. When working with men, I create a safe, supportive environment where you can openly discuss your struggles. We employ Behavioral Activation to help you re-engage in meaningful activities, lifting your mood and improving impulse control. For trauma and PTSD, I combine CBT with narrative therapy, guiding you through the healing process while believing in the potential for post-traumatic growth. Together, we work to overcome the impact of past events and reclaim your life.
