Hi I'm Maeve! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Missouri and Kansas, and a married mother of two, originally from Boston, Massachusetts. I know first hand how hard it is to ovecome unhealthy patterns or heal emotional trauma, even if all your basic needs are met and everything looks fine on the outside. Before receiving my Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Loyola University Chicago, I received my BA in Women's and Gender Studies, so I have always been invested in learning about the multifaceted nature of identity, and advocating for those subject to oppressive systems and structures. I have over a decade of experience in diverse community mental health, addiction, and private practice settings. I am dedicated to helping clients heal from what I call small t trauma and it's many impacts, including anxiety, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem and substance issues. I also specialize in anxiety disorders, including related topics such as OCD and perfectionism.

I still love what I do after 26 years. I have extensive experience in Christian Counseling, Addiction, PTSD, Trauma, Sex-Offenders, and Obsessive-Compulsive behaviors. I currently am NOT providing therapy for couples or families. I have worked with a variety of clients ranging from ages 7 to 89, but am currently only working with adults. I am independently licensed in 3 different states as a Marriage and Family Therapist and independently licensed in 1 state as an Addiction Counselor. I believe everyone has a "gift," something that they are called to do, and Counseling is mine. I care about my clients and have the innate ability to "zone" in on what is going on with them. I use Emotional Focus Therapy, Strength-Based, Trauma-Informed, Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but it really depends on the clients I am seeing. I admire anyone who wants to make a change and is willing to reach out and ask for help. I am here for you if you are that person. **** It's very important to remember to provide a 24-hour notice or a minimum of 2 hours (if an emergency comes up) notice if you are not going to make your session, so that you are not charged a no-show fee. ****** I am only accepting individual clients at this time. Although the appointment planner may allow it, please do not schedule appointments more than 2 weeks out. My later times are limited and I would like all my clients to have a chance to one of these slots, plus it cuts back on no-shows since we do not know if we will be able to make an appointment that far in advance. Thank you for your understanding.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Kansas rather than a city like Wichita?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Kansas. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Kansas from Overland Park to Kansas City! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Kansas.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD)?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD), is filtering therapists in Kansas that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What happens during the first therapy session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
