New to Grow
Hello, My name is Andrew Donelan, and I have been a practicing social worker for over 30 years. I have worked in a variety of mental health settings ranging from drug and alcohol to child welfare to crisis intervention. I have worked with both individuals and families and I look forward to hopefully working with you if you are reading this message.
In our first session, I will be completing a comprehensive intake assessment to help me get a better understanding of your presenting needs and current challenges. By taking the time to gain a fuller understanding of your concerns, I will then be able to collectively set some clear goals with you that we can work on moving forward.
With regards to my approach to counseling, I like to ask probing questions and challenge the client in order to hold them accountable or enable them to gain perspective if necessary. The goal is to promote insight and help the client to make comprehensive decisions to better their life.
As a middle aged man who has successfully navigated some of the more challenging aspects of life such as raising children or navigating the professional work force, I think I bring a good balance of both life experience and clinical expertise to my work that enables me to both empathize with and more fully understand the challanges that many younger individuals face in today's society.
