Hello! I'm Alicia Ellis. Choosing you is the first step towards gaining control over your mental health because, honestly – initiating therapy can be scary and enlightening all at the same time. I am passionate about assisting patients who have experienced trauma-related experiences. I can assist Veterans that experienced PTSD, anxiety, substance use disorders, and depression. I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows my clients to explore their triggers that have caused them undue trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, and/or self-care. I focus on helping clients develop assertive communication & boundaries with themselves and those around them that can help improve their quality of life. Therapy and if needed medication management can help you develop skills and strategies that you may be seeking and help build the life you deserve. Everyone deserves to be happy and fulfill their dreams. If that's what you're looking for, I'm here when you're ready to share. Together, we will identify your challenges and goals - where you want your life to be in a month, six months, a year from now. Then, we'll identify options and strategies you can use to get there. You'll leave the session with a better understanding of what you're facing with an "actions I can take right now" approach. There will always be room for suggestions concerning our work together, including keeping each other accountable.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, there will be brief introductions and a history of your medical and psychiatric history. Then we can start with the challenges you are facing and what you are wanting to work on. This helps to tailor a treatment plan for you that we both agree on and to work in our follow up sessions. I do focus on psychotherapy and then medication management if it is necessary. Not every first visit will result in medication, but it is an option to consider if medically necessary.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My passion is to assist with trauma-related issues, focusing on coping skills to live normally. I like to work with Veterans, nurses, law enforcement, and others who have experienced trauma that is affecting their everyday lives. You can expect me to bring my empathy, easygoing communication style, and sweet sense of humor so that patients feel like they are at home. I will listen to my patients and get them on the right path to feeling like they can accomplish what they dream of. Using the holistic approach of motivational listening and educating the patient so they understand the treatment plan and let them know we are in this together; they don’t have to be alone.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My passion is treating PTSD/trauma, anxiety, depression, and addiction. I mostly use cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, motivational listening, and client-centered therapy. In addition, I will use medication management where needed. I feel that therapy and medication together will achieve the right balance. Additionally EMDR can be utilized to help those suffering from complex PTSD, PTSD, and treatment-resistant depression.
