PMHNP, 20 years of experience
Hello! I'm Alicia Ellis, DNP, AGNP-BC, PHMNP-BC. Choosing yourself by seeking therapy is a courageous first step toward reclaiming your mental health. With my advanced training and board certifications, I offer specialized psychoeducation, psychotherapy, and medication management for anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and trauma. My goal is to provide a safe, welcoming space where clients can explore the triggers for their challenges and begin the journey to healing. Through evidence-based strategies, assertive communication, and healthy boundaries, I am committed to helping you enhance your quality of life and foster lasting change. Therapy, and if needed medication management, can help you build the skills and strategies needed to create the fulfilling life you deserve. Everyone has the right to happiness and to pursue their dreams. If you're seeking change, I'm here for you whenever you're ready. If you've experienced significant trauma in childhood or adulthood, it's common to avoid facing it immediately. Sometimes, people can't recall portions of their trauma and might self-medicate to numb themselves. This avoidance can lead to further challenges. Together, we’ll create a welcoming environment to explore the obstacles and relationship concerns you may have. We’ll work through patterns, introduce new communication methods, and discuss coping strategies. If needed, we’ll consider medication management. Both psychotherapy and psychopharmacotherapy can be beneficial, and I am committed to supporting you through feelings of anxiety, depression, or communication issues with loved ones. If you're struggling with negative patterns, high conflict, or grief and want to move toward a better, more rewarding life, reach out today. We'll begin your journey together.
In our first meeting, we'll have brief introductions and review your medical and psychiatric history. We’ll then discuss your current challenges and goals. This will help us create a tailored treatment plan for you, guiding our follow-up sessions. My approach prioritizes psychotherapy with medication management. Not every first visit involves medication, but it remains an option if medically indicated.
Everyone is unique, and progress takes more than one session. My goal is to equip you with the tools to succeed—ultimately, so you no longer need my support. In addition to traditional approaches, I recognize the value that animals can bring as sources of emotional support and healing. Incorporating animal-assisted interventions—such as equine therapy with horses, goat yoga, time spent with cats, or even spending time with donkeys—can offer comfort, reduce stress, and help build confidence and emotional resilience. These experiences can be a meaningful addition to your therapeutic journey, fostering connection, mindfulness, and personal growth.
Together, we will identify your challenges and set goals for the future—whether one month, six months, or a year from now. We'll explore options and strategies to help you reach those goals. Each session will leave you with actionable steps and a clearer understanding of your path forward. Our collaboration will include suggestions and mutual accountability.
I mostly use cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, motivational listening, and client-centered therapy. In addition, I will use medication management where needed. I feel that therapy and medication together will achieve the right balance.
