About

I’m Dr. Lauren Wolf, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Doctor of Social Work with many years of experience supporting adults, older adults, caregivers, and families through complex life and health-related challenges. My work is grounded in compassion, curiosity, honesty, and respect for the full context of each person’s life. I often support clients navigating grief, chronic illness, disability, caregiving stress, trauma, anxiety, burnout, major life transitions, and the emotional impact of medical or family circumstances. Many of my clients are thoughtful, capable people who are used to carrying a lot for others, but may now feel overwhelmed, depleted, uncertain, or in need of a space where they can slow down and be supported. My therapy style is collaborative, practical, and strengths-based. I aim to create a steady space where we can make sense of what you are carrying, identify what matters most, and build coping strategies that feel realistic for your life. I do not believe therapy has to be cold, clinical, or one-size-fits-all. Together, we can pause, reflect, and move toward greater clarity, self-compassion, and steadiness.

First session

In our first session, we will take time to get to know what is bringing you to therapy and what kind of support may feel most helpful right now. I will ask about your current concerns, important parts of your history, your strengths, your support system, and any goals or hopes you may have for our work together. You do not need to have everything figured out before we begin. The first session is a chance to slow down, ask questions, and begin identifying what feels most important to focus on. My goal is to create a respectful, collaborative space where you feel heard, supported, and not rushed. We will also talk about what therapy with me can look like, including pace, approach, privacy, scheduling, and next steps. By the end of the first session, I hope you have a clearer sense of whether working together feels like a good fit.

Strengths

I bring warmth, honesty, deep listening, and a practical understanding of how complicated life can become when stress, grief, illness, caregiving, trauma, or major change intersect. My background as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Doctor of Social Work allows me to look at both the emotional experience and the larger systems around a person’s life, including family roles, healthcare experiences, work, identity, community, and support needs. Clients often appreciate that I can hold complexity without rushing to simple answers. I try to create a space that is compassionate and steady, while also helping clients clarify what matters, identify next steps, and reconnect with their own strengths. My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and grounded in respect for each client’s pace, values, and lived experience.

Ideal clients

I am best positioned to support adults navigating grief, illness, disability, caregiving stress, trauma, life transitions, and the emotional weight of complex medical or family circumstances. Many of my clients are thoughtful, capable people who may be used to holding a lot for others, but are now feeling overwhelmed, depleted, uncertain, or in need of a space where they can slow down and be supported. I often work well with clients who are coping with chronic illness, physical health changes, caregiving roles, professional burnout, loss, aging-related concerns, or major shifts in identity, family, work, or plans. Clients do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Our work can focus on making sense of what has happened, identifying what matters most, strengthening coping tools, and moving forward with more clarity, self-compassion, and support.

Treatment methods

Strength-Based

I help clients notice the strengths, values, coping skills, and life experiences they already bring with them. In therapy, this may look like identifying what has helped you get through difficult times, what matters most to you, and how to build from what is already working.

Trauma Informed Care

I work at a pace that respects your comfort, choices, and sense of safety. This means we do not have to rush into painful experiences before you are ready. Together, we focus on building trust, understanding how past experiences may affect the present, and supporting you in feeling more grounded and in control.

Supportive

I provide a steady space to talk through stress, grief, caregiving, health concerns, disability, burnout, or major life changes. This may include emotional support, practical problem-solving, reflection, and help sorting through what feels overwhelming.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT tools to help clients notice how thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and stress can influence one another. In practice, this may include identifying unhelpful thought patterns, building coping strategies, and finding more realistic or compassionate ways to respond to difficult situations.

Grief Therapy

I support clients navigating grief, loss, anticipatory grief, end-of-life concerns, illness, disability, caregiving, and major life changes. Grief is not only about death; it can also include changes in identity, roles, relationships, health, or the future you imagined. Therapy can provide space to process loss while also finding ways to keep moving through daily life.
