New to Grow
I have been licensed as a professional counselor since 2005 in Oregon, and in 2007 in WA, and more recently in AZ. I came to the profession after a career in telecommunications business and before that as a research and public librarian. My last 18 years have involved serving military Veterans in civilian readjustment and career preparation. Helping people solve their life problems and seek future-forward opportunities for growth is my true goal. Individuals and couples seeking some sort of help and guidance about their dilemmas and challenges may find my broad, worldly experience very beneficial.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
We will start by getting to know each other, and for that, I provide some specific intake questions for you to complete if you are feeling comfortable. I call this a mini-lifestyle assessment. Your key concerns and goals will be deeply examined so that an appropriate, personalized treatment plan may be proposed for your consideration. I try to be mindful of any hesitancy, reticence or shyness with which you may present so that you can experience some valuable, liberating moments in dealing with some of your issues. Therapy requires time, authenticity and resolve and I try my best to ensure your sessions are grounded in useful outcomes.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
As mentioned above, I present as a mature, experienced licensed professional counselor with years of experience working with adults (18-90+) and couples in helping solve sticky challenges that may be short-term or long-term in scope. I try to be highly focused on the presenting issues and endeavor to be compassionate and direct in engagement so that the Client(s) ' investment of time and money is wisely spent. For couples work, I vigilantly seek to remain neutral and equally supportive to enable each party to freely express her/himself in a comfortable, safe and perhaps enlightening setting. My therapeutic approaches are eclectic, and I utilize a variety of theoretical strategies as may be helpful.
