Dr. Daniel Judes, Ph.D.

LP (he/him)13 years of experience

I’m a clinical psychologist specializing in psychodynamic and relational psychotherapy. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions, trauma, and longstanding patterns that can be difficult to understand or change. My approach is thoughtful, engaged, and collaborative, with an emphasis on understanding not only current symptoms but the experiences and patterns underlying them.

First session

Our first session is an opportunity for me to begin getting to know you and for us to get a sense of what it might be like to work together. I’ll want to understand what brings you to therapy, what has been happening in your life, and some of the experiences that have shaped you. There is no expectation that you arrive with everything figured out, and we’ll begin at a pace that feels manageable.

Strengths

I bring warmth, curiosity, directness, and a strong capacity to listen for what may be happening beneath the surface. I don’t believe therapy should feel generic or formulaic. I try to understand each person in their complexity, and I’m comfortable both sitting with difficult experiences and thoughtfully challenging patterns when that can help advance our work together.

Ideal clients

I work best with people who are curious about themselves and interested in understanding not only what they are struggling with, but why. They may be dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, identity concerns, life transitions, or patterns that seem to repeat despite their efforts to change them. They don’t need to arrive knowing exactly what they want from therapy, just with some openness to exploring themselves and their relationships more deeply.

Treatment methods

Psychodynamic

I help patients understand recurring patterns in their emotions, relationships, and ways of relating to themselves and others. We explore how past and present experiences may shape these patterns, while also paying close attention to what emerges in the therapy itself. The goal is not simply symptom relief, but greater self-understanding, flexibility, and the capacity to make more satisfying choices in relationships and life.

Attachment-based

I help patients explore how important relationships and earlier experiences may influence the ways they experience closeness, trust, conflict, dependency, and independence today. Therapy provides a space to understand these patterns with curiosity rather than judgment and to develop more flexible and satisfying ways of relating.

Integrative

My approach is grounded primarily in psychodynamic and relational therapy, while drawing from other evidence-based approaches when they are useful for a particular person or problem. Treatment is individualized rather than formulaic, and may include more practical or symptom-focused strategies alongside deeper exploratory work.
