Bre MacLellan
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with 9 years of experience supporting individuals through a wide range of challenges. In addition to my clinical work, I provide supervision to other therapists, and love to support those who are often in helping roles themselves. My approach is down-to-earth, collaborative, and focused on real change. I’m not just here to listen, I help you understand patterns, develop practical tools, and create shifts that actually translate into your everyday life. I especially enjoy working with individuals who are thoughtful, motivated, and interested in understanding themselves on a deeper level, while also wanting clear, effective ways to move forward.
First session
In our first session, we’ll start by getting a sense of what brings you to therapy and what you’re hoping to get out of it. I’ll ask questions to better understand your current challenges, your history, and what’s been working (or not working) so far. It’s also a chance for you to get a feel for me, how I work, and whether it's a good fit for you. I take a collaborative, down-to-earth approach, so you can expect an open conversation—not just a series of questions. By the end of the session, we’ll begin identifying initial areas of focus and what next steps could look like.
Strengths
One of my greatest strengths is my ability to help clients truly understand how their minds and bodies work. With a background in psychology and a strong interest in neurobiology, I translate complex concepts into practical, usable tools so you can create real change—not just insight. I also bring an active, collaborative approach to therapy. I’m skilled at identifying patterns, helping you make sense of what’s happening, and working with you to develop strategies that actually fit your life and how you function.
Ideal clients
I work with individuals who are dealing with stress, anxiety, or depression and are ready to understand themselves on a deeper level—not just vent, but actually create change. Many of my clients are capable, insightful people who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to move forward. I see therapy as a collaborative process, where we identify your strengths and build a toolkit of strategies that help you feel more in control, resilient, and equipped to handle whatever comes your way.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help you understand how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected, and how small shifts can create meaningful change. Together, we’ll identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, like self-critical thinking, anxiety loops, or unhelpful habits. I’ll help you challenge those patterns in a practical, supportive way and build tools you can actually use in your day-to-day life. My approach is collaborative, structured when helpful, and always tailored to what works best for you.
Somatic
I incorporate somatic work to help you better understand and regulate your nervous system—not just talk about what’s going on, but actually shift how you feel. We’ll pay attention to what’s happening in your body (like tension, shutdown, or overwhelm) and use practical, evidence-based strategies to help you respond differently. This may include grounding techniques, breathwork, or other regulation tools that build your capacity to handle stress in real time. This approach isn’t just about relaxation, it’s about helping your system become more flexible, resilient, and in your control.
Solution-Focused Brief Treatment
I use SFBT to help you identify your unique strengths and use them to create real, actionable solutions. Together, we’ll get clear on your goals, highlight patterns of success (even small ones), and develop practical steps that align with who you are and how you function best. This approach is especially helpful if you want therapy to feel efficient, empowering, and focused on forward movement.
