Toni Rivers
Welcome! I’m Toni Rivers, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the owner of Mind Over Chatter LLC. I am passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges, better understand their thoughts and emotions, and create meaningful and lasting change. I believe that everyone deserves a safe, supportive space where they can feel heard, understood, and accepted without judgment. Life can often feel overwhelming, and the thoughts we carry can sometimes make it difficult to find clarity, peace, and confidence. Through therapy, I work alongside my clients to help them explore their experiences, identify patterns that may no longer serve them, and develop practical tools to support their emotional well-being. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and personalized because I understand that there is no one-size-fits-all path to healing. Whether you are navigating stress, relationship challenges, difficult life transitions, overwhelming emotions, or simply seeking greater self-awareness and personal growth, my goal is to meet you where you are and support you on your journey. At Mind Over Chatter LLC, I am committed to helping clients quiet the mental “chatter,” strengthen their coping skills, and develop a greater sense of peace, confidence, and fulfillment. I am honored to walk alongside my clients as they work toward healing, growth, and becoming the best version of themselves. You don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone. Sometimes, taking the first step toward support can open the door to meaningful change.
First session
Your first therapy session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a comfortable, supportive therapeutic relationship. We will discuss what brings you to therapy, your current concerns, and what you hope to gain from our work together. You are welcome to share at your own pace—there is no pressure to have all the answers or discuss everything during the first session. Together, we will begin identifying your goals and exploring how therapy can best support you on your journey toward healing, growth, and greater emotional well-being.
Strengths
I bring a compassionate, supportive, and nonjudgmental approach to every session. My goal is to create a safe space where you can feel comfortable being yourself, sharing openly, and exploring the experiences that have shaped you. I value building genuine therapeutic relationships and meeting each client where they are. I combine empathy and encouragement with practical tools and strategies to help you navigate challenges, gain greater self-awareness, and create meaningful change. Throughout our work together, I will support you while also empowering you to recognize your own strengths, build confidence, and move toward the life you want to create. Most importantly, I believe therapy is a collaborative journey, and I am honored to walk alongside you as you work toward healing, growth, and emotional well-being.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who is ready to better understand themselves, navigate life's challenges, and make meaningful changes in their life. They may be feeling overwhelmed by their thoughts or emotions, experiencing stress, navigating relationship or family challenges, adjusting to life transitions, or struggling to find a sense of balance and peace. They do not have to have everything figured out or know exactly where to begin. My ideal client simply has a willingness to show up, be open to the therapeutic process, and explore new ways of thinking, coping, and growing. I work best with clients who are looking for a supportive, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where they can be honest about their experiences while also being encouraged to recognize their strengths. Together, we can work toward greater self-awareness, healthier coping strategies, emotional well-being, and meaningful personal growth.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the approaches I use to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Often, the way we interpret situations can influence how we feel and how we respond. Together, we explore patterns of thinking that may be contributing to stress, emotional distress, or challenges in daily life. Using CBT, I help clients identify unhelpful or negative thought patterns, challenge beliefs that may no longer serve them, and develop healthier and more balanced ways of thinking. We also focus on practical coping strategies and behavioral changes that can help clients feel more empowered and confident when navigating life's challenges. My approach to CBT is collaborative and personalized. Rather than simply telling you how to think or what to do, I work with you to increase self-awareness, identify strategies that fit your unique needs, and build skills that you can continue using outside of our sessions. My goal is to help you quiet the mental “chatter,” strengthen your ability to cope, and create meaningful, lasting change.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an approach I use to help clients develop greater psychological flexibility and create a life that feels meaningful and aligned with their values. Rather than focusing solely on eliminating difficult thoughts and emotions, ACT helps clients change their relationship with those experiences. In our work together, I help clients recognize and make space for difficult thoughts and feelings without allowing them to control their choices or prevent them from moving forward. We may explore mindfulness, acceptance, and strategies for stepping back from unhelpful thoughts so they have less power over your actions. A key part of ACT is identifying what truly matters to you. Together, we explore your personal values and identify meaningful, realistic actions that can help you move toward the life you want—even when challenges or uncomfortable emotions arise. My goal is to help you spend less time struggling with your internal experiences and more time living intentionally, building resilience, and taking meaningful steps toward the life you want to create.
