My name is Shirlisa Love, PMHNP-BC, and I am a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to helping individuals achieve emotional wellness, personal growth, and a healthier mindset. I provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care to children, adolescents, and adults through a collaborative and patient-centered approach. I understand that seeking mental health treatment can feel overwhelming, and I strive to create a safe, supportive, and judgment-free environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. My goal is not only to help manage symptoms but also to help individuals build confidence, resilience, and practical coping skills that improve their overall quality of life. My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, trauma-related concerns, stress management, and other mental health challenges that can impact daily functioning. Through comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, education, and supportive therapeutic interventions, I work closely with each client to develop a treatment plan tailored to their unique needs and goals. I believe that mindset plays a powerful role in mental health and overall well-being. I enjoy helping clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, develop healthier perspectives, strengthen coping strategies, and build the tools necessary to navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and balance. I incorporate elements of cognitive behavioral strategies into treatment while emphasizing personal growth, self-awareness, and long-term wellness. Whether you are seeking support for a new concern, managing an ongoing mental health condition, or simply looking to improve your emotional well-being, I am committed to partnering with you throughout your journey. Together, we can create a path toward stability, healing, and a more fulfilling life.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session, we will take time to discuss your concerns, symptoms, personal history, treatment goals, and any previous mental health experiences. I will complete a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation to gain a better understanding of your emotional, behavioral, and overall mental health needs. Together, we will review treatment options, discuss whether medication may be beneficial, and develop an individualized plan that aligns with your goals. My priority is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you feel comfortable asking questions, sharing concerns, and actively participating in your care.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What sets my approach apart is my commitment to treating the whole person, not just the symptoms. I combine evidence-based medication management with supportive therapeutic techniques, education, and practical coping strategies to promote lasting improvement. I strongly believe that mindset, self-awareness, and healthy thought patterns play a significant role in emotional wellness. I work collaboratively with clients to build resilience, improve coping skills, strengthen confidence, and create realistic goals for long-term success. My approach is compassionate, patient-centered, and focused on helping individuals achieve greater stability, improved functioning, and an enhanced quality of life.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to serve children, adolescents, and adults seeking medication management and support in developing a healthier mindset, improved coping skills, emotional resilience, and overall mental wellness. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and life stressors, utilizing a collaborative, patient-centered approach that combines evidence-based medication management with practical strategies to promote positive thinking, behavioral change, and long-term success.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), my primary treatment modality is psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, medication management, and ongoing monitoring of mental health conditions across the lifespan. In practice, I also incorporate principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) during medication management visits by helping patients identify and challenge negative thought patterns, develop healthier coping strategies, improve problem-solving skills, and increase awareness of the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. While I do not provide formal psychotherapy sessions exclusively, I routinely utilize CBT-informed interventions as part of a comprehensive treatment approach to support symptom reduction, medication adherence, emotional regulation, and overall functional improvement. My experience includes treating patients with anxiety disorders, depression, ADHD, trauma-related disorders, bipolar disorder, and other psychiatric conditions through a combination of evidence-based medication management and brief therapeutic interventions.
