Hello, I'm Tameka Terry, a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to helping children, adolescents, and adults improve their mental health and overall quality of life. I believe every person deserves to be heard, understood, and treated with dignity. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and evidence-based, allowing us to work together to create a treatment plan that fits your goals, values, and lifestyle. Whether you're experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, mood changes, or other mental health concerns, I'm committed to helping you feel supported throughout your journey toward healing and lasting wellness. *Accepting patients **ages 6 and older** for behavioral health services. Children **under age 6** are not seen at this practice. *Intake appointments are 60 minutes. Routine follow-up appointments are 15–30 minutes, depending on clinical needs. Late Arrival / No-Show Policy: Appointments are reserved specifically for you. Patients who arrive 15 minutes or more late will be considered a no-show and a no-show fee will apply. Same-day cancellations or rescheduling requests are also subject to the no-show fee, including illness, unless there are rare extenuating circumstances. Please note: Joining the visit only to state that you cannot complete the appointment or need to reschedule does not waive the fee. If the scheduled visit is not conducted and at least 24 hours’ notice was not provided, the appointment may still be considered a no-show and the applicable fee will be charged. *The current no-show fee is $55 and is subject to change as practice policies are updated and is up to the practice's discretion for any future changes.

First session

Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know one another in a comfortable, judgment-free environment. We'll discuss what brought you to treatment, review your medical and mental health history, explore your current symptoms, and identify your goals for care. I take time to answer your questions, explain diagnoses and treatment options, and make sure you understand the reasoning behind any recommendations. Together, we'll develop a personalized plan that may include medication management, therapeutic techniques, lifestyle strategies, or additional resources based on your individual needs. My goal is for you to leave your first session feeling heard, informed, and hopeful about the path forward.

Strengths

I believe the strongest therapeutic relationships are built on trust, honesty, and collaboration. I strive to create a welcoming space where clients feel comfortable discussing difficult topics without fear of judgment. I take time to listen carefully, educate my clients about their diagnoses and treatment options, and involve them in every decision regarding their care. Rather than simply prescribing medication, I focus on understanding the whole person—including life experiences, stressors, relationships, strengths, and personal goals. I also incorporate supportive psychotherapy and practical coping strategies into medication management visits whenever appropriate. My goal is to empower clients with knowledge, provide realistic expectations, and help them build confidence as they work toward meaningful, long-term improvement in their mental health. *When clinically appropriate, laboratory testing through Quest Diagnostics may be ordered to evaluate factors such as hormones, vitamin deficiencies, and other medical conditions that may affect mood, energy, cognition, and overall health. Imaging studies, including brain or cardiac testing, may also be ordered when medically indicated to support safe and comprehensive care. *Please note: Patients requesting or receiving controlled substance prescriptions may be required to complete a urine drug screen (UDS) at a designated laboratory location as part of safe prescribing practices and in accordance with clinical guidelines. This requirement is determined at the provider's discretion based on your individual treatment plan. Controlled Medication Policy: This practice prescribes controlled substances when clinically indicated such as: Suboxone [Buprenorphine], Benzodiazepines [Lorazepam (Ativan), Clonazepam (Klonopin)], stimulant medications [Adderall , Vyvanse, Methylphenidate, Ritalin, Concerta, and Focalin. Scheduling an evaluation does not guarantee that any particular medication will be prescribed. Existing prescriptions are not automatically continued. Treatment may require review of medical records, diagnostic history, prescription-monitoring data, testing, and controlled-substance agreements. All decisions are based on the provider’s independent clinical judgment, patient safety, and practice policies.

Ideal clients

My ideal clients are children, adolescents, and adults who are ready to better understand their mental health and actively participate in their treatment. I enjoy working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, PTSD, mood disorders, stress, life transitions, grief, and relationship challenges. I also welcome clients who may have felt unheard or misunderstood in the past and are looking for a provider who will take the time to listen, educate, and collaborate with them. Whether you're seeking a diagnosis, medication management, or ongoing support, my goal is to help you develop practical tools, gain confidence, and make meaningful progress toward improved emotional well-being and a healthier, more fulfilling life. Forms, Disability, FMLA, and Medical Paperwork Policy: *To ensure all patient forms are completed accurately and thoroughly, please allow up to 7 business days for completion of any medical paperwork after your appointment and after all required information has been received. *Payment is required before paperwork is completed. *Forms 1–3 pages: $25. Forms 4+ pages: $50. Approval is not guaranteed. *Establishing care does not automatically qualify a patient for time off from work, FMLA, disability benefits, or other medical certifications. *Most forms are returned within 48–72 hours when possible. *Patients are encouraged to submit paperwork well in advance of any deadlines. Expedited or same-day completion cannot be guaranteed. As a courtesy, every effort is made to return completed paperwork within 48 to 72 hours whenever possible. However, turnaround time depends on patient volume, the complexity of the requested forms, and the number of paperwork requests being processed at that time. During periods of high demand, the full 7-business-day processing period may be required.

Treatment methods

Supportive

I use supportive therapy to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can openly discuss their thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. During our sessions, I offer encouragement, active listening, education, and practical coping strategies to help clients manage stress, build resilience, and navigate difficult situations. I believe in meeting clients where they are, helping them recognize their strengths, and empowering them to make meaningful, lasting changes while working toward their personal mental health goals.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques into treatment by helping clients recognize the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge negative beliefs, and develop healthier ways of coping with life's challenges. I provide practical tools and strategies that clients can apply between sessions to improve emotional regulation, reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, strengthen problem-solving skills, and build lasting resilience. When appropriate, I combine CBT techniques with medication management to provide a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to care.
