Leonora Gorelik
My practice is focused on individuals and couples who are ready to grow. I especially value working with people who want to strengthen their coping skills, are willing to be introspective and honest with themselves, and are prepared to take responsibility for their lives and relationships. I feel deeply humbled and honored when clients entrust me with their stories. Holding that trust comes with tremendous responsibility — one I take seriously. My role is to help create a safe, thoughtful space where wounds can be understood, processed, and healed. I believe that while suffering is part of being human, we all deserve to feel happier, more connected, and freer in our lives. Therapy can be a powerful step toward that freedom.
First session
Our first session is focused on getting to know you. Finding the right therapist can be a process, and it’s important that you feel comfortable and understood. This initial meeting gives us both the opportunity to see if we’re a good fit. I like to begin by identifying the strengths and skills you already have. Even in the midst of challenges, you bring resilience, insight, and capacity for growth. We will build on those strengths as we work toward healing, self-awareness, and empowerment. I believe everyone is capable of developing deeper insight and living a more fulfilling life. At the same time, therapy isn’t always easy. My role is to help you look at yourself honestly and compassionately — and that can sometimes feel uncomfortable. Growth rarely happens without some challenge. If at any point you feel I’m not the right fit, I fully respect that. My priority is that you find the support that best serves you, and I genuinely wish you well in that process.
Strengths
I specialize in working with adults and couples who are navigating life’s changes — whether that means communication struggles, relationship stress, identity shifts, or major transitions. As someone who has raised children, sustained a long-term marriage, and lived across cultures after immigrating as a child, I bring real-life perspective into my work. I understand that relationships evolve, that transitions can feel disorienting, and that growth often comes through challenge. In our work together, I offer a steady, thoughtful space where we can explore patterns, strengthen communication, and build the tools needed to move forward with greater connection and confidence.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who has the self-awareness to recognize that something needs to change in order to grow and thrive. If you’re seeking therapy, I imagine you’re already open to reflecting on what brought you to this moment — and brave enough to consider making different choices. My role is to walk alongside you as you deepen your understanding of your emotions, examine and restructure unhelpful thought patterns, and cultivate greater self-compassion. Together, we can work toward healing difficult past experiences while creating space for meaningful growth and change. I’m here to listen, to be a thoughtful sounding board, and to gently guide you toward increased self-awareness and more effective ways of navigating life’s inevitable ups and downs.
Treatment methods
Solution-Focused Brief Treatment
I look at therapy as an adjunct to a healthy lifestyle, not a lifelong crutch. I believe in getting to the point, figuring out what works, what doesn't & making changes in our behaviors, choices, and everyday habits to enhance & improve our ability to cope with life's ups & downs. This requires a commitment to introspection & willingness to take responsibility for why you are where you are in life. I focus on empowering my clients to take control of their lives & the changes put them in the drives seat to decide what happens next.
