Thank you for visiting my practice! I have been offering counseling and psychotherapy to clients since 2008, with the addition of teletherapy in 2017. During my career, I have worked with individuals and families in clinical outpatient settings, schools and private practice. I have specific training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, with additional certifications related to Anxiety and Teletherapy. I hold a degree of Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Later I earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I am currently licensed in North Carolina as a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and in South Carolina as a licensed independent social worker (LISW-CP). I currently work with individuals, ages 12+.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you hope might feel different in your life. I’ll also ask some questions about your background so I can better understand the context of what you’re going through. My goal is to create a comfortable, supportive space where you feel heard and where we can begin identifying goals for our work together.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My style is warm, thoughtful, and collaborative. I strive to create a space where clients feel genuinely heard and supported, while also gently challenging unhelpful patterns that may be keeping them stuck. I bring experience from working in a variety of settings including hospital systems, independent schools, and private practice, which allows me to understand clients from many different perspectives. While therapy often involves meaningful reflection, I believe moments of humor and connection are also an important part of the healing process.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with clients who are seeking thoughtful, insight-oriented talk therapy and who are open to exploring patterns in their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. They are willing to develop greater flexibility in their thinking and experiment with new ways of responding to life’s challenges. My goal is to create a safe space for you to grow. Let’s work together to effectively identify and process emotions, challenge distorted perception, and change behavior patterns. With this growth you will experience positive change in all areas of your life, and feel more confident to tackle life’s challenges.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

The cornerstone of my treatment approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT is a form of talk therapy that focuses on how a person’s thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes affect their feelings and behaviors. CBT is present and future oriented, versus some traditional therapy methods which emphasize the past. With CBT, your therapist is an active participant in the change process. Learning skills to challenge faulty thinking and unhealthy behavior patterns is a regular part of CBT sessions.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

My work integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which helps clients develop a more compassionate relationship with their thoughts and emotions while identifying what truly matters to them. Together we focus on increasing psychological flexibility so clients can take meaningful steps toward the life they want, even in the presence of discomfort.
