I am a licensed clinicial social worker with over 24 years of experience. I work with a broad spectrum of clients. My practice style can be described as eclectic in that I utilize various treatment techniques that work best to meet the client's needs or presenting problems: such as cognitive-behavioral, solution focused, task-centered, problem-solving, and cognitive approaches. It is important to note that every therapist has his or her own style.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session often focuses on gathering information about why you are seeking counseling at this time.Iwill ask you questions about your past physical, mental, and emotional health. It may take a few sessions to obtain all of this information, depending on the client's issues. During the first session, you can also decide if I am a good fit for you. Finding a therapist you are comfortable with is critical to successful counseling treatment. I will also determine if you are a good fit for counseling. I will discuss the type of therapy, treatment goals, session length, and how many sessions are needed. I utilize a direct approach wherein I do not just listen to the client, but I provide honest and thoughtful feedback. I believe in challenging the client so that he or she may grow during their therapeutic journey. Some sessions may bring up intense emotions, but I encourage you to remain committed to the process.

With 24 years of experience, I have developed a range of strengths and skills that contribute to effectiveness in helping clients achieve their therapeutic goals. Some of these strengths include: empathy and compassion; flexibility; solution focused mindset, non-judgmental attitude; and strong clinical knowledge and expertise.
