I am a trauma-focused therapist licensed in the State of Massachusetts. I have a deep interest in people, patience to listen, and unlimited capacity for compassion. I have been exposed to many different cultures and understand how cultural differences can make everything more challenging. I am an experienced couple counselor. I have helped many couples to improve their communication, rekindle their love, and live fuller and happier lives.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. I will begin getting to know you, and you will get the initial idea whether you can be comfortable working with me.
I listen. I don't offer solution or give advice; instead, I help you identify and verbalize your feelings and guide you on the road of finding the best solutions for yourself. I am internationally certified as an EMDR therapist, and I am proficient in "Parts therapy" (known as "Internal Family Systems," or IFS) Feelings and emotions always "live" in the body. I will help you "read" your body signs, which would make it possible to manage your emotions. My second profession is yoga instructor (including trauma-sensitive yoga), and I love brain science. I will help you to learn to listen to your body, understand mind-body connections, which will increase your power over your feelings and emotions.
My training and experience are primarily trauma focused. I am certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR therapy, developed by Francine Shapiro at the end of the 20th century, uses eye movements (or sometimes rhythmic tapping) to change the way a memory is stored in the brain, allowing you to process it. EMDR has been proven to be effective both in person and via video therapy.
Sooner or later, most couples stumble across communication difficulties. Stress of everyday life causes emotional fatigue, resulting in difficulties in interacting with one another: misunderstandings, misinterpretations, expectations of "mind reading", to name just a few. Learning how to express yourself clearly and role-play communication goes a long way in increasing trust and rekindling love.
DBT is a proven therapy that helps people manage distress, soothe intense emotions, improve relationships, and live mindfully in the moment. It offers solutions by helping you learn skills that replace ineffective behaviors - breaking the cycle!
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a form of psychotherapy that identifies and addresses multiple sub-personalities or "families" within each person's mental system. These sub-personalities consist of wounded parts and painful emotions such as anger, shame, and fear. IFS focuses on healing these wounded parts by establishing a trusting, nurturing relationship between the self and each part, based on the understanding that every part has a positive intent for the individual, even if its actions or effects are counterproductive or harmful.
