About me

Hello Potential Client! Welcome to my Practice. My name is Amanda Strobel and I am a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC). I have had an opportunity to practice behavioral health therapy in many settings over the last 25+ years. My overall goal is to support my clients through their therapeutic journey including supporting them through life transitions, stressful or overwhelming situations, grief or loss issues or executive counseling for career advancement. You will find that I have worked in a variety of therapy settings including: private practice both in person and virtual, inpatient/outpatient, corporate settings, residential, therapeutic day schools, mentally ill substance abuse and oncology wellness centers. In those setting I provided therapy on a variety of mental health issues. I spent the first 15 years of my career working with children, adolescents and young adults working through: physical/sexual and neglect issues, anxiety/panic/OCD, depression, bi-polar disorder, suicidal ideation and actions, family conflicts, boundary setting and substance abuse issues. I have also worked with the overall family unit to address family conflict, parenting issues and relationship building. In more recent years my focus has been on grief/loss issues, coping skills, self care, executive consulting and counseling, life transitional issues and working through major life changes and choices. I would love to support you as you take your first steps towards achieving your goals-please reach out and schedule an appointment.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me get to know you and then create a specific therapeutic plan with agreed upon goals for us to work through in follow-up sessions. This also allows us to measure your symptom improvement and goal achievements over time.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

In my experience through my years as a provider, my clients find me very approachable, non judgmental, an active listener, supportive and goal oriented. I'm eager to learn about you as a person as well as what is important to you. Once I have that understanding I look to seek out the root of your problem and support your actions towards meeting your therapeutic goals. Sometimes that involves education and practicing new skills. I use several tools to allow you to continue your journey even when we aren't in a session. I look for educational materials, worksheets, guided journaling and other things to keep you moving forward.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with many different populations and ages. I truly enjoy the variety of different presenting problems. My clients tend to be eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed and anxious about their feelings and situation and are unsure what to do next. Im here to support my clients through there therapeutic journey and help them accomplish their goals.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My preferred general treatment modality is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT is a widely used treatment modality for a wide variety of behavioral health disorders and symptoms. CBT is a psych-social approach identifying thought process, patterns and behaviors. Although CBT is my general approach I also incorporate many other modalities that are appropriate depending on my clients needs.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Person Centered therapy is commonly mixed in my approach with my clients. I believe its impotant for my clients to have a clear understanding of themselves and their issues in order to best support their journey in therapy. I do tend to be a bit more goal oriented, directive and supportive than a true person centered approach but value client insights and their ability to understand themselves and presenting problems.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-focused therapy (SFT), or Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), is a short-term, goal-oriented approach used in mental health counseling. Instead of focusing on analyzing problems or the past, SFT emphasizes building solutions by identifying and enhancing clients' strengths, resources, and previous successes. My approach will be to collaborate with you as my client to set clear, achievable goals, explore times when the problem was less severe or absent (“exceptions”), and support you in in envisioning a preferred future. I am goal oriented and support clients in setting and achievable goals. SFT is especially practical for clients seeking efficient, empowering strategies for positive change, with sessions focused on actionable steps and moving forward. We will work together to identify barriers that keep you from moving forward and achieving your goals.
