Hi, and welcome—I'm so glad you're considering therapy as a step toward your self-development. My name is Elijah, and I identify as a first-generation, queer Black man. Holding these identities has given me a deep understanding of the unique challenges that can come with seeking support for your mental health—especially when the process feels unfamiliar or overwhelming. Taking this step isn’t always easy, but it can be one of the most meaningful and empowering decisions you make. I specialize in working with high-performing individuals navigating depression, anxiety, and life transitions. I take your mental well-being seriously and stay up to date on evidence-based treatments and emerging tools. My goal is to integrate these strategies into our work in ways that help you feel confident, capable, and supported as you move toward lasting change. I approach therapy as a collaborative process—one where you feel seen, heard, and actively involved in your own growth. Depending on your needs, I draw from a range of treatment modalities to tailor our work together. If you're ready to start your journey toward a healthier, more grounded version of yourself, I'd be honored to support you along the way.
During our first session, I will conduct an intake assessment, which is a questionnaire that will allow me to gain insight into your concerns. Once completed, you and I will discuss problem areas and collaborate on a treatment plan with goals for success in treatment.
My main treatment approach is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), but I will also integrate strategies from dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and psychodynamic therapy. Through the use of reading or worksheets, we will work to identify any current limiting and self-defeating thoughts as well as their origins. I will also teach mindfulness techniques that you can use daily to help manage any depression or anxiety that might be troubling you.
I understand that therapy can be intimidating, especially in a virtual format. Because of this, I make it a top priority to create a safe that makes you feel like you can show up as your authentic self without fear of judgment. I also value a multicultural approach as I believe that our mental health can also be influenced by systemic factors, such as race, sexual orientation, gender, socioeconomic status, etc.
I specialize in working with high-performing individuals navigating depression, anxiety, and life transitions. I also help individuals who are looking to process and understand the impact of holding marginalized identities, such as race, gender, and sexual orientation and help provide them with the tools to empower them to thrive amongst a dominant culture that might not exactly provide spaces designed with marginalized folks in mind.
