First and foremost, my work is always person-centered; empathy and collaboration are the core of my therapeutic approach. We know that when it comes to your life, you are the expert. Whether you've uncovered it or not, you hold the deepest understanding of your past experiences, future goals, fears, desires, regrets, joys, and every other component of who you are. My role as your therapist is joining you on your journey to self-improvement and understanding, while being fully present and actively listening to ensure you feel heard and understood. As we dive into your mind, I engage by drawing from my education and training to give insight, offer a new perspective, propose solutions for change, identify helpful coping skills, and assist in various ways based on your individual needs.
When working together, clients can expect the first session to emphasize motivational interviewing- an approach used to establish goals and discuss internal motivators. My therapeutic style is flexible and always person-centered. Because I aim to meet people where they are, the content and flow of our work will be unique to you as an individual.
I utilize different approaches and skills such as cognitive behavioral therapy, parts work, feminist theory in relation to marginalized identities, and narrative techniques to ensure that you feel empowered to tell your story and hold agency over its meaning.
The majority of my experience has focused on the LGBTQIA+ community. I believe there is therapeutic value in shared experiences and as a queer-identifying therapist, I'm passionate about helping others in my community. I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ and gender nonconforming adolescents, as well as adult couples, polyamorous folks, and ethical non-monogamy. I also have 4 years of experience working with children, teens, and families in a variety of mental health settings. I enjoy working with individuals to address identity exploration, anxiety, and feelings of inadequacy. With couples and families, my work emphasizes relationship-building, effective communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
