New to Grow
I’m a Brooklyn based Chinese American therapist with a community oriented and growth centered approach to mental health. I hope I can be a part of your journey no matter what stage you’re at! I can offer a dynamic and multicultural lens and perhaps a perspective that aids you in feeling safe, seen and or provide some new outlook and be helpful to you. I have 8 years of experience in community mental health and well versed in a variety of modalities and diagnoses.
I’d like to get to know your general experience and background and what has brought you into treatment as well as understanding for what might be relevant to your current situation you’d like to seek treatment for.
I am a generally more of a proactive clinician who offers therapeutic tools and I’m a big fan of analogies to best convey my points. I always welcome feedback and will do my best to meet your needs both in therapeutic objectives and approach!
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I often use CBT to frame and guide clients if they’d like to work on specific on a personal or therapeutic goal such as decreasing an unhealthy behavior or increase coping skills for acute symptoms.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I have a certification in DBT skills training and can teach clients to improve emotional regulation, radical acceptance, mindfulness, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness which can be helpful for many situations.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
I find EFT most helpful with somatic exercises to guide clients struggling to connect to certain emotions and can do so safely in our shared space and gain the increased ability be able to do so outside of the sessions.
Existential
Life’s many layers of systems and levels of interactions can impact how we view ourselves, interact with the work and process everything in between. Existential psychology is a field I find very suitable for creative and intellectual minds who strive to better understand themselves and the world around them and may want the space to fully explore theories and meaning of life.
Eclectic
As life may present a variety of challenges and each individual is unique in their experience, I cannot say I’ve found one singular therapy modality to be applicable across the board and I would like to prioritize the client’s needs in collaborating what their goals are and offer suggestions in how we go about treatment.
