New to Grow
I have been a mental health professional for over 2 decades. During that time, I have worked with diverse populations in a variety of settings. I accompany clients on their journey to healing, which includes identifying & removing barriers to personal growth. It is a privilege to be trusted to be alongside someone during his/her therapeutic process. I am focused on facilitating progression towards improvement that will hopefully sustain my clients beyond therapy. I am interested in learning about my clients so that I can provide them with the best care.
Our first session will consist of an overview of what you can expect in therapy. It will also entail introducing ourselves, learning about the reason you are interested in therapy, and how we can best accomplish any therapeutic goals that have been identified. We will discuss any apprehension or concerns you may have that could potentially have an impact on your progress. You will have an idea by the end of the initial session of the roadmap we will use to navigate through the therapeutic journey.
Therapy is an experience that brings about optimism and hope, yet it may take some clients longer to attain them based on several factors. Negative prior experiences with counseling, preconceived notions based on others' experiences or opinions, stigma, or the way counseling is depicted in the media can impede a therapeutic encounter before it even begins. I am transparent with my clients and aim to ensure that you feel empowered to advocate for yourself. I often receive feedback from clients about how comfortable they feel in therapy while also being challenged to explore beyond their comfort zone.
My ideal clients are those who are interested in enriching their lives, which oftentimes involves revealing and healing past wounds and trauma, to become a better version of themselves. I am best positioned to serve those who are open and willing to create and pursue therapeutic goals in an effort to improve their quality of life. I primarily work with clients regarding the following: -Work/Life Balance -Stress Management/Anxiety -Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse as well as other interpersonal violence -Post-Trial Counseling for Jurors I also provide services to couples, first responders, and members of the helping professions (i.e.: Physicians, Nurses, Therapists, etc.), as well as those utilizing their EAP benefits.
